When History Explorer is opened, the Main View is displayed. Using the Main View, you can view, filter, or sort information in the BarTender System Database; you can also reprint items, track inventory, or change the BarTender System Database to which you are connected.
The Main View is composed of the following components and controls:
The Main Menu bar is the horizontal bar across the top of the screen that allows you to pull down menus. It contains a list of commands to configure and use History Explorer. The following menus are available:
File: Contains options that control the behavior of History Explorer.
Edit: Contains controls that allow you to copy and paste information from record cells and columns.
View: Contains options that allow you to show or hide panes within History Explorer's user interface.
Tools: Contains controls that launch other applications in the BarTender Suite.
Help: Contains controls that access help and product information.
The Toolbars provide you with shortcuts to many of History Explorer's most commonly used commands. The following toolbars are available:
Main Toolbar: Contains shortcuts to options that are available in the File and Edit menus.
Printed Item Image Toolbar: Contains shortcuts that allow you to administer preview images.
Search Toolbar: Contains shortcuts that allows you to filter and/or search for records within the BarTender System Database.
Selected Print Job Detail Toolbar: Contains shortcuts that allow you to copy or print information about the selected print job.
Navigation Bar: Allows you to navigate through the records in the selected pane.
The Panes display detailed information for each record in the BarTender System Database. Each pane contains filtered data, so that it displays information about one type of event, such as print jobs or security checks. You can select the type of event to display using the View Selector pane, located by default on the left hand side of the main user interface. While using History Explorer, you may encounter the following panes:
BarTender Suite: Messages: Displays messages generated by applications in the BarTender Suite. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the BarTender Suite: Messages view of the View Selector pane.
BarTender: Print Jobs: Displays information about print jobs executed from BarTender. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the BarTender: Print Jobs view of the View Selector pane.
Printed Item Image: Displays the preview image(s) of items printed in the selected print job. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the BarTender: Print Jobs view of the View Selector pane.
Selected Print Job Details: Displays detailed information about the selected print job(s). This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the BarTender: Print Jobs or Printer Maestro: Print Jobs views of the View Selector pane.
Printer Maestro: Printer Events: Displays events recorded by Printer Maestro during the duration of a print job. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the Printer Maestro: Printer Events view of the View Selector pane.
Printer Maestro: Inventory Events: Displays messages returned by Printer Maestro's management of printer supplies. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the Printer Maestro: Inventory Events view of the View Selector pane.
Selected Inventory Event Details: Displays detailed information about the selected inventory event(s). This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the Printer Maestro: Inventory Events view of the View Selector pane.
Security Center: Permission Checks: Displays information about permission checks performed by applications in the BarTender Suite. This pane is visible when a filter is selected in the Security Center: Permission Checks view of the View Selector pane.
The Status Bar, located along the lower edge of the Main View, displays the current status of History Explorer's connection with the BarTender System Database.
When History Explorer and the BarTender System Database are properly connected, the text Database Server: and the name of the currently connected BarTender System Database will display.
If the connection is broken, the text Database Server: Not Connected will display.
