Selected Print Job Details Pane |
The Selected Print Job Details pane, accessible by selecting a filter in the BarTender: Print Jobs or the Printer Maestro: Print Jobs views of the View Selector pane, displays details about a selected print job. For BarTender print jobs, a print job detail includes an overview, job status history, job message history, and object information for every item printed in a print job. For print jobs monitored by Printer Maestro, the print job detail includes an overview and a history of print job events.
The Selected Print Job Details pane can be optionally hidden using one of the following methods:
Select Selected Print Job Details from the View menu.
Select the icon in the top left corner of the Selected Print Job Details pane.
Enable the Auto Hide feature by selecting the icon.
The Selected Print Job Details pane for BarTender print jobs contains the following tabs:
The Overview tab displays a complete report of the selected print job, including summary information, as well as details about the document that was printed and the printer. The report contains the following sections:
Print Job Overview
Summary
Document Name: The name of the document being printed.
Printer: The name of the printer processing the print job.
Created Time: The date and time that the print job was created.
Last Status: The last status received from the printer.
Total Printed Items: The total number of items printed.
Total Pages: The total number of pages printed.
User Name: The user name of the user who executed the print job.
Server Name: The name of the server sending the print job.
BarTender Version: The full version of BarTender software used to save the document, including version and build number.
BarTender Document Details
Document Name: The name of the document being printed.
Document Path: The complete path of the BarTender document.
Document Modified Date & Time: The date and time that the document was last modified.
Printer
Name: The name of the printer processing the print job.
Model: The model of the printer processing the print job.
Port: The port that connects the printer to the computer.
Comment: Any comments associated with the printer.
Selected Print Job Details
Command Line: The command line that initiated the print job.
Identical Copies: The number of identical copies of the label printed.
Serialized Copies: The number of serialized copies of the label printed.

Object Print Methods
True Type Text: How true type fonts were printed.
Unsupported 1D Barcodes: How 1 dimensional Barcodes, not supported by the printer, were printed.
Unsupported 2D Barcodes: How 2 dimensional Barcodes, not supported by the printer, were printed.
Lines: How line objects, not supported by the printer, were printed.
Boxes: How box objects, not supported by the printer, were printed.
Ellipses: How ellipses objects, not supported by the printer, were printed.
Media Handling Options
Action: The media handling action taken after the item finished printing.
Occurrence: When the media handling action occurred.
Data Item Name: The name used to reference data item triggering the media handling action.
Item Type: The type of data used to trigger the media handling action.
Ignore Case: Whether the case of the data in the Item Type will trigger a Media Handling event.
Number of Labels: The number of labels that printed before the media handling action occurred.
Print Setup Options
Log Print Job: Returns true or false: Was print job logging enabled during the print job?
Auto Print Again: Returns true or false: Did the print job automatically print a second time?
Enable Print Code Modifier: Returns true or false: Did the print job allow script modifications during the print job?
Print To File: Returns true or false: Did the print job print to file?
Output File Name: If Print To File is True, returns the file name of the printer code file.
Show Printer Code: Returns true or false: Did the system display the printer code after completion of the print job?
Enable Data Entry: Returns true or false: Was data entry enabled during the print job?
Refresh Databases: Returns true or false: Did the system refresh the databases prior to completing the print job?
The Status History tab, located in the BarTender: Print Jobs and the Selected Print Job Details panes, displays the complete print job status history as the print job transitions from being created, to being spooled to the printer spooler, queued in the printer job queue, and sent to the printer. Print job errors and cancellations are also shown.
Available Fields
When BarTender executes a print job, it stores encountered status messages as fields in the database. This information can be viewed by adding or removing columns in the Status History tab of the Selected Print Job Details pane. The following information is stored about each status event in the BarTender System Database:
Description: Displays a description of the selected status. Select the down arrow to display the entire message.
Status: Displays the status that was received, such as Creating or Sent.
Time: Displays the local date and time that the status was received.
Time: Displays the date and time in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). UTC time, or Greenwich Mean Time, is an international time scale based on the local standard time on the 0 longitude meridian in Greenwich, England.
The Job Messages tab, located in the BarTender: Print Jobs and the Selected Print Job Details panes, displays all BarTender application messages that occurred while BarTender executed a print job. The information obtained from this tab can be useful when troubleshooting failed print jobs.
Available Fields
When an application in the BarTender Suite generates a message, it stores information about the message as fields in the BarTender System Database. When these messages are in regards to a print job, this information can be viewed by adding or removing columns in the Job Messages tab. The following information is stored about each message in the BarTender System Database:
Application: Displays the name of the application that created the message.
Application Version: Displays the version number of the application that created the message.
Category: Displays the category of the message, such as Database, File, or Printing.
Computer: Displays the name of the computer creating the message.
ID: Displays the identification number of the message.
Message: Displays the content of the message. Select the down arrow to display the entire message.
Response: Displays how the application responded to the message.
Severity: Displays the severity of the message.
Time: Displays the date and time that the message was generated.
Time (UTC): Displays the date and time in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). UTC time, or Greenwich Mean Time, is an international time scale based on the local standard time on the 0 longitude meridian in Greenwich, England.
The Template Objects tab of the Selected Print Job Details pane displays information about each object of the BarTender template that was printed. Template objects can be browsed using the Navigation Bar at the bottom of the pane.
Using the Template Objects tab, you can reprint a specific item in a print job or copy information about an object to the clipboard. These options are available using the selected print job details toolbar or the context menu.
Available Fields
When BarTender executes a print job, it stores information about each object on the printed item's template in the BarTender System Database. This information can be viewed by adding or removing columns in the Template Objects tab of the Selected Print Job Details dialog. The following fields are available:
Name: Displays the name of an object on the template.
Page Item Number: Displays the item number based on the position of the item printed on a single page of media stock. For example, if you print your items on a sheet of paper that can hold ten items on each page, the first item printed on the first page would have a Page Item Number of one and the tenth item printed would have a Page Item Number of ten. The eleventh item would have a Page Item Number of one since it is the first item printed on the second page.
Side: Displays whether the object appeared on the front or back template.
Type: Displays the type of object, such as text field, barcode, or picture.
Value: Displays the value of the object.
The Selected Print Job Details pane for Printer Maestro print jobs contains the following tabs:
