To enable Auto Hide for a specific pane, click on the 
icon in the upper right corner of the pane.
To enable Auto Hide for all optional panes, select Show All With Auto Hide On from the View menu.

The Auto Hide feature causes the optional panes to automatically disappear when they are not in use. When you enable Auto Hide, the optional panes will minimize to an edge of the Main View, so that only a tab containing the pane's title will be visible. When you need to view the contents of the hidden pane, simply move the cursor over the pane's title tab to expand the pane to normal size. As long as the cursor remains inside of the active pane, the contents of the pane will be displayed.
You can activate the Auto Hide feature using either of the following methods:
To enable Auto Hide for a specific pane, click on the icon in the upper right corner of the pane.
To enable Auto Hide for all optional panes, select Show All With Auto Hide On from the View menu.
To disable the Auto Hide feature, view the desired pane by holding the cursor over the pane's title tab. When the pane is displayed, click on the 
icon in the upper right corner of the pane. Auto Hide can be turned off for all panes by selecting the Show All or Hide All options from the View menu.
