Inventory Pane

The Inventory pane is a visual representation of all the various items you have in your inventory. Inventory items are stored in locations which you may define using the Define Locations dialog. There must be at least one location defined (a location named "Storage" is defined by default).

When an inventory item is created, it is given a category, either Media, Pigment, or Hardware, as well as a type. Several pre-defined types are provided; you may add custom types using the Define Types dialog.

You may define or edit an existing item using the Item Properties dialog.

When you receive a new shipment of an item, you can use the Receive Item dialog or the Receive Item by Part Number dialog to increase the quantity of an item. If an item is moved between locations, use the Move Item dialog to specify a new location. The Use Item dialog allows you to decrease the quantity of an item each time it is used.

To represent loading an item into a printer, an inventory item may be dragged from the Inventory pane to a printer in the Printers pane to launch the Move Item to Printer dialog. If usage tracking has been enabled, an item usage meter for the item will be displayed in the Printers pane. Items can be removed from a printer using the Remove Item From Printer dialog, accessible from the Information pane.

Usage Tracking

Items loaded in a printer may be configured so that their usage can be tracked and alert messages sent when they run low or critically low. Usage levels may be tracked by pages, length or time. The default usage tracking settings for an item may be set using the Usage page of the Item Properties dialog. The usage settings for an item already loaded into a printer can be modified using the Item Usage dialog, accessible from the Information pane.
