The Item Properties dialog, accessible from the Inventory menu, allows you to create a new inventory item or edit an existing item. You may enter information to uniquely describe the item, specify where quantities of the item are stored and enable tracking of the item's usage.
The following tabs are available:
The Item tab allows you to enter or modify information that describes the inventory item.
Type: Defines the item type. Item types may be added, modified or deleted using the Define Types dialog.
Description: Specifies a description of the item. The description is used to uniquely identify the inventory item.
Part Number: Specifies an item's part number. The part number can be used to receive an item by part number using the Receive Item by Part Number dialog.
Notes: Specifies user-defines notes about the inventory item.
User-Defined Attributes: Defines custom attributes. You may enter as many attributes of your own definition as you would like. Each attribute consists of a name and a value. Just like the predefined attributes, the user-defined attributes can be included in inventory alert messages and can also be used to help filter the alert messages.
The Inventory tab allows you to specify where quantities of the item are stored, and to enable alert message notifications when quantities of the item in inventory are running low.
Inventory
Stock Level: Specifies the total quantity of the inventory item currently in stock.
Location: Displays a list of all locations that have been defined using the Define Locations dialog. You may assign a quantity to a location or edit the existing quantity.
Receive Item: Opens the Receive Item dialog, which allows you to increase the current inventory levels of an item.
Move Item: Opens the Move Item dialog, which allows you to transfer the inventory at one location to another location.
Use Item: Opens the Use Item dialog, which allows you to decrease the current inventory levels of an item.
Default Location: Specifies the default inventory location for this item. The default location is used for all operations on this item if no location is explicitly chosen. If Most Recently Used is selected, the location used most recently for any operation on any inventory item is used as the default location.
Inventory Alert
Alert when less than: When enabled, sends an alert message when the quantity of the item in inventory is below the quantity specified.
Remind every [X] days: When enabled, sends a reminder message at the specified interval when the quantity of the item in inventory has reached the alert level.
The Usage tab allows you to track an item's usage and to specify usage tracking parameters. Usage settings for an item that has been moved into a printer may be modified using the Item Usage dialog.
Item Usage
Tracking Method: Specifies how to track the inventory item. If None is selected, the item's usage will not be tracked. Otherwise, you can track an item By Pages, By Meters, By Centimeters, By Inches, By Feet, By Weeks or By Days.
Display As: Defines how an item's usage is displayed in the Item Usage Meter field of the Printers pane. For all tracking methods, you may choose Precentage Remaining. In addition, you may choose between Pages Remaining or Pages Used, Length Remaining or Length Used, Time Remaining or Time Used depending on the tracking method that has been selected.
Estimated Maximum: Specifies the estimated maximum size or duration of the item. The units will vary depending on the tracking method chosen.
Low Level (Yellow)
Low Level: Specifies the threshold of when an item's inventory level is low. Units will vary depending on the method of usage tracking selected for the item. Items reaching the low level threshold will display a yellow bar on the Printers pane.
Alert when level reached: When enabled, sends a notification when the low level threshold is reached. This alert is displayed in the Events pane, and may also be used to trigger an email or other type of alert using the Event Settings dialog.
Critical Level (Red)
Critical Level: Specifies the threshold of when an item's inventory level is at a critical level. Units will vary depending on the method of usage tracking selected for the item. Items reaching the critical level threshold will display a red bar on the Printers pane.
Alert when level reached: When enabled, sends a notification when the critical level threshold is reached. This alert is displayed in the Events pane, and may also be used to trigger an email or other type of alert using the Event Settings dialog.
Remind every [X] days: When enabled, sends a reminder message at the specified interval when the quantity of the item in inventory has reached the critical level threshold.
