Typically, you supply the six middle characters of a UPC-E barcode, and then BarTender automatically adds the number system digit to the beginning, computes the check digit, and then adds the check digit to the end. If you supply more than six characters,BarTender might delete the extra characters, and if you supply fewer than six, BarTender adds enough trailing zeros to bring the total number of data characters up to six. |
Data format: Specifies whether the data source provides the number exactly as it is to appear in the UPC-E barcode (with zeros suppressed) or as the actual UPC number that the barcode represents. (UPC-E suppresses zeroes to save space.) The following options are available:
UPC-E (6 digits): Specifies that the data source provides the number exactly as it is to appear in the UPC-E barcode.
GTIN-12, GTIN-13, or GTIN-14: Specifies that the data source provides the actual UPC number that the barcode represents.
Supplemental: Opens the Supplemental Options dialog, which you can use to configure a supplemental 2-digit or 5-digit symbol. For more information, refer to Specifying Supplementals.
Color: Displays the currently selected color of the barcode symbol. To select a different color, click this option, and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.

Barcode scanners cannot read colored barcodes as well as they can read barcodes that are printed in black. Therefore, we recommend that you do not modify the color of barcode objects unless they are used only for decoration. |
Print Method: Opens the Print Method Options dialog, where you can specify how your barcodes are printed on thermal printers. Available when you use a thermal printer that has Drivers by Seagullâ„¢ installed.
