UPC-E is a zero-suppressed version of UPC that was developed to allow the use of UPC barcodes on smaller packages where a full 12-digit barcode might not fit. In the UPC-E symbol, the number system digit and all trailing zeros in the manufacturer code and all leading zeros in the product code are suppressed (omitted).
Use the Data Format option to specify whether the data source provides the number exactly as it is to appear in the UPC-E barcode (with zeros already suppressed) or as the actual UPC number that the barcode represents. The following options are available:
UPC-E (6 Digits): Specifies that the data source provides the number exactly as it is to appear in the UPC-E barcode.
GTIN-12, GTIN-13, or GTIN-14: Specifies that the data source provides the actual UPC number that the barcode represents.
