Use the File menu options to load, save, and print the documents that you create and modify by using BarTender and to specify page and printer settings. Additionally, when you click Database Connection Setup on the File menu, you can use the Database Connection Setup wizard to configure your document to print items by using data from a variety of relational database systems and data file types.
The File menu options are as follows:
Open: Opens the Open Document dialog so that you can open an existing document and load the templates that it contains. For more information, refer to Opening Existing Documents.
Close: Closes the current document without exiting BarTender.
Close All: Closes all open documents without exiting BarTender.
Save: Saves the current document. If the document is new and was not previously saved, the Save As dialog is displayed when you click this option.
Save As: Opens the Save As dialog so that you can save the current document by specifying a file name and the location where you want to save it. For more information, refer to Using the Save As Command.
Save All: Saves all open BarTender documents. For more information, refer to Saving All Open Documents.
Database Connection Setup: Opens the Database Setup dialog so that you can specify the characteristics of the database that is used in the current document. If you have not previously connected the document to a database, clicking this option starts the Database Connection Setup wizard.
Page Setup: Opens the Page Setup dialog so that you can configure the print media that you are using to match the template by specifying the stock, page dimensions, layout, printing order, and so on.
Print Preview: Opens the Print Preview mode so that you can see how the items in a print job will be printed.
Print: Opens the Print dialog so that you can configure the print settings, such as the printer to use and the number of serialized items and copies to print, and then run the print job.
Reprint Console: Opens the Reprint Console application, where you can resend a print job to a printer.
Export Image: Opens the Export Image dialog so that you can export an image of the entire template or form or of the selected objects and controls. This image can be copied to the Clipboard or saved to an image file. For more information, refer to Exporting Images.
Quick Export Image: Exports an image of the document without opening the Export Image dialog by using the settings that were most recently configured in the dialog. For more information, refer to Exporting Images.
Export Printer Code Template: Opens the Export Printer Code Template dialog so that you can select the print system to use to create a printer code template, specify the output settings, and export the template.
BarTender Document Options: Opens the BarTender Document Options dialog so that you can configure options for the current document, including comments, regional settings, and viewing options.
BarTender Document Password: Opens the BarTender Document Password dialog so that you can configure a document password to protect various aspects of all BarTender documents, including printing and modifying the templates.
View Embedded Revision Log: Opens the Embedded Revision Log dialog so that you can view the revision information that has been logged in the BarTender document.
The first time that you click this option, you are prompted to turn on revision logging. To do this, click Document Setup, click to select the Embed revision log into saved documents check box in the Document Setup dialog, and then click OK.
Recent files list: Lists the file names of the most recently opened BarTender documents. To open a document in this list, click the file name.
Exit: Closes BarTender. If you did not save the changes that you made to the document, BarTender prompts you to do so before it closes.
