BarTender Document Password Dialog

Use the BarTender Document Password dialog, which you can access on the File menu, to set up a password to protect various aspects of the active BarTender document. When the user tries to perform any of the protected actions, they are prompted to enter the document password. By default, no password is defined.

After you enable password protection on one or more protected actions, and if you selected the Remember Document Password Until Close option, you can continue to work in BarTender as usual until you exit and then reopen the application. When you reopen BarTender, the password protection that you configured prevents you from completing the actions until the password is provided.

Additionally, the password is required to access the BarTender Document Password dialog.

Protected Actions

Use the Protected Actions section to select which actions on the document you want to protect. Any actions that are protected prompt the user for the document password. If the correct password is not entered, the user is prevented from performing the action. The following actions can be protected:

ClosedTo protect a VBScript

  1. Click to select the Modify Protected VB Script(s) check box in the BarTender Document Password dialog, and then click OK.

  2. Open the VBScript that you want to protect in the Script Editor.

  3. At the bottom of the Editor pane, click to select the Protected by Document Password check box. The next time that a user tries to open this VBScript, they are prompted to enter the document password.

Remember Document Password Until Close

When you click to select this check box, the user is asked to enter the password only one time. After the correct password is entered, the document stays unlocked for as long as it is open, and the user can perform all of the protected actions without having to reenter the password.

If this option is not selected, the user is prompted to enter the password every time they perform any of the protected actions. The Modify Template Design action is an exception to this rule; after the correct password is entered, a user can modify the template for as long as the document is open.
