Administrative Setup Dialog |
Use the Administrative Setup dialog, which you can access by clicking Administrative Setup on the Administrative Setup Options menu, to configure application settings for Print Station.
The following property pages are available.
Use the options on the General property page to control the print settings, view options, and regional settings of Print Station.
Print Settings
On mouse click: Show print dialog: Specifies that the Print dialog is displayed when a file is selected in the browser window.
On mouse click: Immediately print: Specifies that a print job is sent immediately to the printer when an item is selected in the browser window. The Print dialog displays a progress bar, but users cannot specify options on the Print dialog. If the document has any data entry forms or other user-input requirements, those are displayed.
BarTender print messages to show: Specifies the severity level of messages that you want to be displayed in the Print Results dialog. The options are Errors, Errors and Warnings, and Errors, Warnings, and Information.
View Options
Show folders in browser: Specifies that sub-directories of the specified folder are displayed in the browser window.
Show folder navigator: Specifies that all selected folders and their subfolders (if applicable) are displayed in the folder navigator pane. For more information about how to use and customize the folder navigator, refer to Customizing Folder Navigation.
Folder icons: Specifies the position for the folder icon when it is displayed in the main view. For information about how to customize icons, refer to Customizing Folder Icons.
Display information when mouse pointer hovers over control: Specifies that detailed information about the file is displayed when the user points to a document in the browser window.
Display comments: Specifies that document comments are displayed. You can configure comments in the Comments tab of the
Display file information: Specifies that information about a document is displayed, such as file size and last modified date.
View full screen on startup: Specifies that Print Station runs in full-screen mode when you first start it. We recommend this option for most touchscreen environments.
Override default instructional text: Specifies that the default instructional text on the Print Station user interface is replaced with a custom instruction that you specify.
Regional Settings
Language: Specifies the language in which Print Station displays its menus and dialogs.
Root Folders
The Root Folders pane lists all the available root files for you to access. In Print Station, a root folder is a directory that contains one or more BarTender documents, process files, and/or BTXML Script files. Each instance of Print Station can contain multiple customized root folders.
Use the toolbar at the bottom of the Root Folders pane to manage your document libraries. The following options are available:
Creates a new root folder.
Removes the selected root folder from the list.
Removes the selected root folder and places a copy of it on the Clipboard.
Copies the selected root folder to the Clipboard.
Pastes a copy of the root folder that is stored on the Clipboard into the list of available libraries.
Moves the selected root folder up one position in the list.
Moves the selected root folder down one position in the list.
Source Folder
Folder: Specifies the path to the Windows System folder or Librarian directory that monitors for BarTender documents (*.btw), process files (*.btproc), and BTXML script files (*.btxml).
Browse: Displays the Windows Browse for Folder dialog. By default, this dialog uses the folder that is currently specified in the Folder field. If that location does not exist, the dialog uses the Desktop folder. After you select a directory, the selected folder is pasted into the Folder field. You can specify a folder in Librarian by using lib://<folder> syntax.

Any path that you use is relative to the user who is logged on to the computer, if the selected path is under the user profile directory. For example, suppose that the selected Folder path points to the Documents directory. If one user logs on to the computer by using the "MyUserAccount1" account, Print Station displays all BarTender documents in the C:\Users\MyUserAccount1\Documents directory. If another user logs on to the same computer by using the "MyUserAccount2" account, Print Station displays all BarTender documents in the C:\Users\MyUserAccount2\Documents directory. |
File Filter: Filters the selected library for specific file types. For example, when you enter "*.btw," Print Station displays only BarTender documents.
Override folder name: Customizes the display name of the root directory in the folder navigator and the title of the Print Station user interface.
Visibility
Visible to all users: Specifies that Print Station shows all documents that are available to all users in the root folder.
Visible to selected users and groups: Specifies that only those documents that are viewable by the selected groups are available.
Add: Opens the Add User or Group dialog.
Remove: Removes the selected user or group.
Administration Password
Set or Change Password: Opens the Administration Password Setup dialog, where you can define a password to protect the current Print Station settings.
Require password to exit full screen: Specifies that Print Station is locked into full-screen mode unless the administration password is provided.
User-Based Security
By using Administration Console, administrators can individually allow or deny users the ability to run or administer Print Station. For more information, refer to the Administration Console help system.
Features to Disable
Printer selection: Specifies that the printer selection in the Print Document dialog is locked to the printer that is specified in the BarTender document.
Print quantity: Specifies that the quantity selection in the Print Document dialog is locked to the quantity that is specified in the BarTender document.
Document search: Specifies that the search bar is removed from the Print Station user interface.
Document print preview: Specifies that the Print Preview button is removed from the Print Document page.
Changing view options: Specifies that the More View Options menu is removed from the Print Station user interface. This prevents users from modifying the appearance of Print Station.
Limit number of open documents to: Specifies the maximum number of documents that can be opened in Print Station's BarTender process at any given time. If the maximum number of documents is exceeded, BarTender closes the oldest documents in the order in which they were printed.
Load documents into cache when Print Station starts: Instructs Print Station to automatically load documents that it finds in the folder until the document limit is reached.
Close unused documents after: Closes all open documents in the BarTender process after an elapsed time limit that you specify.
