Files Pane

The Files pane is a visual representation of all of the files within a selected directory. By using the Files pane, you can view detailed information about the file and about each file revision, such as the revision number, size, file state, and comments.

Available Fields

When you save a file to the repository, Librarian stores information about the file as fields in the BarTender System Database. You can customize your view of this information by adding or removing columns in the Files pane. The following information is displayed in the Files pane.

Field	Description
Name	The name of the BarTender document or image
Revision	The current revision number; by default, the latest revision the user can open
Size	The size of the file
State	The state of the file
Last Modified	The date and time that the file was last modified
Last Modified By	The user who last modified the file
Computer	The computer that the file was last modified on
Comment	The user-defined description of the file

Context Menu

The context menu contains the following options, which you can use to modify items in the Files pane:

Open: Opens the selected file for viewing only.
Get Latest Revision: Displays the Get File(s) dialog, which you can use to retrieve the selected file from the repository and then save it to a specific location on your computer.
Check Out: Checks out the selected files and opens them for editing. If a file is not already saved to your computer when you check it out, the Get File(s) dialog is displayed.
Check In: Checks in the selected file and saves any changes that were made to it while it was checked out.
Add: Opens the Add File(s) dialog, which you can use to browse to and add BarTender documents or images to the file repository. The files are added to the folder that is currently selected.
Undo Check Out: Reverses the Check Out operation and reverts any changes that were made to the file while it was checked out.
Change State: Opens the Change State dialog, which you can use to assign a state to the selected files.
Cut: Moves the selected file to the Clipboard.
Copy: Copies the selected file to the Clipboard.
Paste: Copies the most recent item on the Clipboard to the selected location.
Delete: Deletes the selected files from the repository.
Undelete: Restores a deleted item to its original location in the repository.
Purge: Removes a deleted item from the BarTender System Database. This operation removes the history of the deleted item and cannot be reversed.
Rename: Renames the selected file.
Add Comment: Specifies a comment that you add to the selected files.
Properties: Displays the Properties dialog for the selected file.
