The Administrative Setup dialog, accessible by selecting Administrative Setup from the menu, allows you to configure application settings for Print Station.
The following property pages are available:
The options on the General property page allow you to control the print settings, view options, and regional settings of Print Station.
Print Settings
On mouse click: Show print dialog: Displays the Print dialog when an item is selected in the Browser Window.
On mouse click: Immediately print: Immediately sends a print job to the printer when an item is selected in the Browser Window. The Print dialog shows a printing message, but will not prompt for input.
BarTender print messages to show: Specifies the severity level of messages you wish displayed in the Print Results dialog. The options are Errors, Errors and Warnings, and Errors, Warnings, and Information.
View Options
Show folders in browser: When enabled, displays sub-directories of the specified folder in the Browser Window.
Show folder navigator: When enabled, displays all folders for navigation within the library directory.
Folder icons: Determines the position for the folder icon when it is displayed on the main view. For information on customizing icons, please see Customizing Folder Icons.
Display information when mouse pointer hovers over control: Displays detailed information about the file when mouse pointer hovers over a document in the Browser Window.
Display comments: When enabled, displays document comments. Comments are specified in the Comments tab of the
Display file information: When enabled, displays information about a document, such as file size and last modified.
View full screen on startup: Forces Print Station to run in full-screen mode when initially opened. This option is recommended for most touch-screen environments.
Override default instructional text: When enabled, replaces the default title on the Main View with a custom instruction.
Regional Settings
Language: Specifies the language in which Print Station will display its menus and dialogs. If the language in which you need to display Print Station is not in the dropdown list, additional languages can be installed using BarTender's setup program.
Root Folders
The Root Folders pane lists all the available root files for you to access. In Print Station, a root folder is a directory containing one or more BarTender documents, batch files, and/or BTXML Script files. Each instance of Print Station can contain multiple customized root folders.
The toolbar at the bottom of the Root Folders pane allows you to manage your document libraries. It contains the following buttons:
Creates a new root folder.
Removes the selected root folder from the list.
Removes the selected root folder but places a copy of it on BarTender's clipboard.
Copies the selected root folder to BarTender's clipboard.
Pastes a copy of the root folder stored on the clipboard into the list of available libraries.
Moves the selected root folder up one position in the list.
Moves the selected root folder down one position in the list.
Source Folder
Folder: Specifies the path to the Windows System folder or Librarian directory that monitors for BarTender documents (*.btw), batch files (*.btbat), and BTXML Script files (*.btxml).
Browse: Displays the Windows "Browse for Folder" dialog. The browse dialog defaults to the folder currently defined in the Folder field; if that location does not exist, the browse dialog defaults to the Desktop folder. After selecting a directory, the folder selected in the browse dialog will be pasted into the Folder field. You can specify a folder in Librarian using the syntax lib://<folder>.

Any path that you use will be relative to the user logged into the computer, if the selected path is under the user profile directory. For example, suppose that the selected Folder path points to the "Documents" directory. If one user logs into the computer using the account "MyUserAccount1", Print Station will display all BarTender documents located in the directory C:\Users\MyUserAccount1\Documents. Likewise, if another user logs into the computer using the account "MyUserAccount2", they can browse all documents in the directory C:\Users\MyUserAccount2\Documents. |
File Filter: Filters the selected library for specific file types. For instance, by entering "*.btw," Print Station will display only BarTender documents.
Override folder name: When enabled, allows you to customize the display name of the root directory in the Folder Navigator and Title of the Main View.
Visibility
Visible to all users: When selected, Print Station will show all documents available to all users in the root folder.
Visible to selected users and groups: When selected, only those documents viewable by the selected groups will be available.
Add: Opens the Add User or Group dialog.
Remove: Removes selected user or group.
Administration Password
Set or Change Password: Opens the Administration Password Setup dialog, where you can define a password to protect the current Print Station settings.
Require password to exit full screen: When enabled, locks Print Station into Full Screen mode unless the administration password is provided.
User-Based Security
Administration Console lets administrators individually allow or deny users the ability to run or administer Print Station. For more information, refer to the Administration Console help system.
Features to Disable
Printer selection: When enabled, locks the printer selection in the Print dialog to the printer specified in the BarTender document.
Print quantity: When enabled, locks the quantity selection in the Print dialog to the quantity specified in the BarTender document.
Document search: When enabled, removes the search bar from the Main View.
Document print preview: When enabled, removes the Print Preview button from the Print page.
Changing view options: When enabled, removes the View Options menu from the Main View. This prevents users from modifying the appearance of Print Station.
Limit number of open documents: Specifies the maximum number of documents that are opened in Print Station's BarTender process at any given time. If the maximum number of documents is exceeded, BarTender will close the oldest document, in the order that they were printed.
Load documents into cache when Print Station starts: When enabled, instructs Print Station to automatically load documents found in the folder until the document limit is reached.
Close unused documents after: When enabled, closes all open documents in Print Station's BarTender process after the specified time limit.
