Visual Basic Script |
The Visual Basic Script data source type is used for advanced applications, such as when you need to produce final data for a text or barcode object by processing data from one or a combination of the other data sources in a way that is not otherwise possible. Even when scripted functionality is needed, it is often easier to select one of the other data source types and use the "VB Script" transform instead.
In addition to the Name and Type options (refer to Data Source tab), when Visual Basic Script is selected as the data source type, the following additional options are available:
Script Type. Specifies the type of Visual Basic script to use. Depending on your needs and technical expertise, three different levels of Visual Basic Script are available. For more information, refer to Visual Basic Scripting in BarTender.
Expression/Script. Displays the VB script defined in the Script Assistant. For Single Line Expressions, this section will be titled Expression; for Multi-Line Scripts, Script.
Edit with Script Assistant. Opens the Script Assistant, which allows you to write scripts, and store and execute them.
