Set the Print History Retention Policy

Retaining large amounts of print history can negatively impact storage space, especially if print volumes are high. The print history includes detailed information about all print jobs and individual printed items, including images of the printed items. To reduce storage requirements, reduce the amount of time print history data is retained, while continuing to meet any auditing requirements of your business.

To open the Print Settings page

  • To open the Print Settings page, click on the header bar, then select Administration, Settings and Print Settings.

To set the company's Print Retention policy, use the Print Settings page.

To set a company's Print Retention & Storage Lifecycle policy

  1. On the Print Settings page, in the Retain print job history for field of the Print Retention & Storage Lifecycle Policy section, select the length of time you want to store your print job history. By default, 30 days is selected.

  2. In the Retain print item history for field, select the length of time you want to store your print item history. By default, 30 days is selected.

  3. In the Purge unwanted images after field, select the length of time you want to store images of printed items. After this time expires, these images are permanently deleted. By default, 1 month is selected.

  4. Click Save.

Files are automatically purged from the Trash folder based on the settings selected in this panel. Admins can adjust this time length, but adjusting downward may cause some files already on the Trash page to be deleted immediately.
