Security

  • Automatically warn and log out inactive users: Specifies that users are warned and then automatically signed out of BarTender Cloud after the specified number of minutes has elapsed with no user activity. When this setting is selected, the following options are available:

    • Logout Time: Specifies the number of minutes that you want to elapse before the user is signed out.

    • Warn Time: Specifies the number of minutes before the user is automatically signed out that you want the warning to be issued. For example, if you set this option to "1", users will receive a warning one minute before they are automatically signed out.

  • Allowed Authentication Factors: Specifies the available factors that users can use when they sign in by using two-factor authentication. The factors that are selected here are applied to all users for whom two-factor authentication is selected in the user information dialog that is available on the Users page. For more information, refer to Managing Users.

One or both of the following factors can be used:

    • SMS (text): Specifies that the two-factor authentication request is sent by using SMS (which sends a text message to a mobile phone number). The phone number that is used is the one that the user enters in the Contact Phone Number field in the Security section of their My Profile page.

    • Email: Specifies that the two-factor authentication request is sent by using email. The email address that is used is the one that is associated with the user's BarTender Cloud account.

The behavior of the two-factor authentication request is as follows:

    • If only the SMS (text) checkbox is selected, the request is sent by using SMS only.

    • If the SMS (text) checkbox is selected, a contact phone number is missing for the user, and the Email checkbox is selected, the request is sent by using email only.

    • If the SMS (text) checkbox is selected, a contact phone number is missing for the user, and the Email checkbox is not selected, the user is prompted when they sign in to enter a phone number to use for receiving the SMS request.

    • If only the Email checkbox is selected, the request is sent to the user's email address.

  • External Authentication Service: Specifies that a third-party authentication service, such as Google, can be used to authenticate users.
