Adding a Scale Display Control to a Form

After you install and configure a scale, you can import data from your scale to a scale display control on a data entry form. A scale display control is an interactive scale on a form that displays the weight that is currently applied to the weighing scale that is connected to your computer. You can use this control to capture that weight and accept it as user input into the data entry form.

The following procedures describe how to add a scale display control to your data entry form, connect the control to an installed scale, and link the control to an object on your template so that the measured weight is printed on your document.

On the Create menu of the Data Entry Form view, click Data Entry Control, and then click Scale Display. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar, and then click Scale Display.
Click the data entry form at the location where you want to place the control.
Double-click the control to open the Scale Display Properties dialog. Alternatively, right-click the control, and then click Properties.
In the left navigation pane, click Scale to open the Scale property page.
In the Scale list, select an installed scale. If you have not yet installed any scales, select New to start the Add Scale wizard. For more information, refer to Installing a Scale.

To make sure that the scale is working together with the scale display control, click Start Test.

Double-click the control to open the Scale Display Properties dialog. Alternatively, right-click the control, and then click Properties.
In the navigation pane, click Linked Data Source.
In the list of data sources on the Linked Data Source property page, select the data source that you want to link to the selected control.
Click Close to close the Scale Display Properties dialog.
