More Fill Options Dialog |
To access the More Fill Options dialog, click More Fill Options anywhere the Color option is available. The Color option appears in various places on the toolbars and on property pages throughout the Properties dialog, on both the template and the data entry form. The Color option is also available in the Template Design view on the Background tab of the Page Setup dialog.
The following fill options are available.
Color: Specifies the color. Select the color that you want from the table of available colors. If the color that you want is unavailable, click More Colors to open the Colors dialog, and then make your selection from the additional color choices. Alternatively, click the Custom tab to select a custom color.
Transparency: Specifies the degree to which objects that are under the color can be seen. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.
A gradient occurs when one color fades into another color. Gradients can be used to fill shapes or to provide color variations for borders, lines, and text, and it can also be used to fill the template or data entry form.
You can create a gradient by using one or more of the following methods:
Select a gradient type to specify the direction of the color transitions.
Add and customize gradient stops along the gradient path to define the gradient color.
The following options are available for creating a gradient.
Gradient Type
Type: Defines the direction that the gradient colors transition into one another within the object or template, as follows:
A linear gradient extends along a specified line. This line can be vertical, horizontal, or diagonal.
A rectangular gradient extends from a point on a rectangle.
A radial gradient extends from a point on an ellipse, which gives the impression of the colors fading along the edges of a circle.
A path gradient extends from the center of the object in the shape of the boundaries of the object.
Angle: Specifies the angle of a linear gradient. A vertical gradient has an angle of 0 degrees, and a horizontal gradient has an angle of 180 degrees.
Gradient Colors
Use gradient stops to customize your gradient at specific locations along the gradient path. Default beginning and end gradient stops are provided, and you can add more stops. You can also customize each stop by defining its unique properties, including color, transparency, and position.
You can add a gradient stop by using one of the following methods:
The following options are available:
Preset:
Color: Specifies the color of the selected gradient stop. Select the color you want from the table of available colors.
Position: Determines the location of the selected gradient stop along the gradient path. You can adjust a stop's position by dragging the stop to the left or right on the gradient path.
A pattern is a set of repeated dots or lines that can be used to fill shapes or provide an interesting appearance for borders, lines, and text, and it can also be used to fill the template or data entry form.
Foreground Color: Specifies the color of the lines or dots of the pattern. Select the color that you want from the table of available colors.
Background Color: Specifies the color of the background that the pattern appears on. Select the color that you want from the table of available colors.
Transparency: Specifies the level of transparency for the foreground or background color. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.

Use the Picture or Texture fill option to apply either a picture or a predefined texture to the selected object's font, line, or fill property or to the template or data entry form.
You can customize your selected picture or texture fill by using the following options.
Get Picture From
Use the Get Picture From section to select a fill from either a predefined texture or a graphic file on your computer, scanner, or camera, as follows:
Texture:
File: Opens the Open File dialog so that you can browse to a picture that is located on your computer.
Clipboard: Specifies that the contents of the Clipboard are used as the fill image.
Scanner or Camera: Imports an image from a scanner or camera and uses it as the fill image.
Tiling Options
X Offset: Shifts the entire texture or picture horizontally within the boundaries of the object property or template. The texture or picture moves to the left when you enter a negative number and to the right when you enter a positive number. The larger the number that you enter, the greater the distance that the texture or picture shifts within the boundaries of the property or template.
Y Offset: Shifts the entire texture or picture vertically within the boundaries of the object property or template. The texture or picture moves up when you enter a negative number and down when you enter a positive number. The larger the number that you enter, the greater the distance that the texture or picture shifts within the boundaries of the property or template.
X Scale: Specifies the percentage for the horizontal scaling of the original image or texture.
Y Scale: Specifies the percentage for the vertical scaling of the original image or texture.
Alignment: Specifies the anchor position at which the picture or texture tiling begins.
Mirror: Specifies the vertical or horizontal direction by which tiles reflect one another.
Horizontal: Specifies that each tile reflects the mirror (or flipped) image of the tiles to the left and right of itself.
Vertical: Specifies that each tile reflects the mirror (or flipped) image of the tiles above and below itself.
Both: Specifies that each tile reflects the mirror (or flipped) image of the four tiles that are adjacent to it.

To import images from a scanner or camera device, you must set up the device by using the Scanner and Camera Setup dialog. |
Stretch Options
|
Depending on the values that you provide, clipping and distortion of the picture or tile may occur. |
Left: Increases the size of the image by stretching it to the left, to the percentage that is specified by the value that you provide.
Right: Increases the size of the image by stretching it to the right, to the percentage that is specified by the value that you provide.
Top: Increases the size of the image by stretching it upward, to the percentage that is specified by the value that you provide.
Bottom: Increases the size of the image by stretching it downward, to the percentage that is specified by the value that you provide.
Transparency
The Transparency option specifies the level of transparency for the image. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.
