File Menu

Use the File menu options to load, save, and print the documents that you create and modify by using BarTender. You can also use the File menu options to specify page and printer settings. Additionally, you can use the Database Setup dialog options to print items by using data from external text files, ODBC, SAP IDoc, or OLE DB data sources.

The File menu options are as follows:

New: Creates a new BarTender document.
Open: Opens the Open dialog so that you can open an existing document and load the templates that it contains.
Close: Closes the active document without exiting BarTender.
Close All: Closes all open documents without exiting BarTender.
Save: Saves the active document. If the document is new and was not previously saved, the Save As dialog is displayed when you click this option.
Save and Check In: Names, saves, and checks in the active checked-out document to Librarian.
Save As: Opens the Save As dialog so that you can save the active document by specifying a file name and the location where you want to save it.
Save All: Saves all open BarTender documents.

Database Connection Setup: Opens the Database Setup dialog so that you can specify the characteristics of the database that is used in the active document.
Page Setup: Opens the Page Setup dialog so that you can control the dimensions and placement of items on a single page of stock.
Print Preview: Displays the items in a print job as they will be printed.
Print: Opens the Print dialog so that you can print items and specify the number of serialized items and copies to print. By using this dialog, you can also select the printer with which you want to print your items.

Reprint Console: Opens the Reprint Console application, where you can resend a print job to a printer.

Export Image: Opens the Export Image dialog so that you can export the entire template or form, or the selected objects and controls, to an image that can be copied to the Clipboard or saved to an image file. For more information, refer to Exporting Images.
Quick Export Image: Uses the settings that were most recently used in the Export Image dialog to copy to the Clipboard or save to an image file the current template or form or the selected objects and controls. For more information, refer to Exporting Images.
Export Printer Code Template: Opens a menu from which you can choose the print system to use to create a printer code template.

BarTender Document Options: Opens the BarTender Document Options dialog so that you can configure options for the active document, including comments, regional settings, and viewing options.
BarTender Document Password: Opens the BarTender Document Password dialog so that you can configure a document password to protect various aspects of all BarTender documents, including printing and modifying the templates.
View Embedded Revision Log: Opens the Embedded Revision Log dialog so that you can embed file information into the BarTender document.

Recent File: Displays the file names of the most recently opened BarTender documents. To open a document in this list, click the file name.

Exit: Closes the application. If you did not save the changes that you made to the document, BarTender prompts you to do so before closing the program.
