Data Entry Property Page |
The Data Entry property page enables you to define the print-time behavior of a control, including how often it requests data during a print job, what default data appears in the reply box, and whether or not it is included in the tab order of the data entry form.
Date Entry Options
Frequency: Specifies how often the data entry form will prompt the user for input.
Default: Defines the default reply for the data entry control. Not available for Scale Display and Image Capture controls.
Focus Behavior
Move focus between controls when
Enter key is pressed: When enabled, specifies that the cursor will move to the next data entry control when the Enter key is pressed. When this option is disabled, the Enter key will close the data entry form.
Arrow key moves cursor beyond start or end of data: This option effects only those data entry controls that allow typing data into them. When enabled, the up and left arrow keys may move the cursor to the previous control and the down and right arrow keys may move the cursor to the next control. Whether or not the cursor moves to the other control depends on whether or not the cursor is currently at the start or end of data within the control, and whether or not the control is a list type of control. The up and down arrow keys have no focus behavior effect on controls that already have behavior for the up/down arrows, such as numeric or date input controls.
Maximum number of characters is reached: This option effects only those controls that allow typing data into them. When enabled, the cursor moves to the next control once the maximum number of characters specified in the Number of Characters transform has been reached.
Data is inserted by barcode scanner: This option effects only those controls that allow typing data into them. When enabled, the cursor moves to the next control when data has been inserted from a barcode scanner.
Exclude control from tab order: When enabled, specifies that the control will be automatically skipped when a user presses the Tab key (or Enter key, if the previous option has been enabled) to progress through the data entry controls on the form.
Function Key: Enables you to assign a shortcut key to the data entry control. When the data entry form is displayed, typing the key or key combination will send the focus to the specified control so that data can be entered immediately without needing to tab through the other data entry controls on the form.
Validation
Once your data entry control has been linked to a data source, you can customize one or more of the following validation options, depending on the control selected:
|
These same validation options can be found on the Transforms tab of the Data Sources property page for the template object associated with the data entry control. |
Character Filter: Forces data entered into the control to conform to specified rules.
Number of Characters: Specifies the minimum and maximum number of characters that can be entered.
Offset: Specifies one of the following:
the amount of time that will be added to or subtracted from the entered value for a date picker or time picker control.
the number that will be added to or subtracted from the entered value for a slider or numeric input control.
Range Checking: Specifies a range of allowable dates.
