USPS POSTNET (Zip, Zip+4, DPBC)

USPS POSTNET is also known as Zip, Zip+4, and DPBC.

The Symbology and Size property page for the USPS POSTNET symbology includes the following options.

Symbology: Specifies the symbology that is selected. You can use this list to select a different symbology.

Dimensions

The default value for the Height option is 0.125 inches (one-eighth of an inch), which is the correct height for the tall bars in the POSTNET symbol according to its specifications. We recommend that you do not modify this default value unless you need to print a larger POSTNET barcode that will then be photo-reduced to the appropriate size.

BarTender automatically determines the density of the barcode based on its height.

Symbology Specific Options

Color: Displays the currently selected color of the barcode symbol. To select a different color, click this option, and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.

Barcode scanners cannot read colored barcodes as well as they can read barcodes that are printed in black. Therefore, we recommend that you do not modify the color of barcode objects unless they are used only for decoration.

Print Method: Opens the Print Method Options dialog, where you can specify how your barcodes are printed on thermal printers. Available when you use a thermal printer that has Drivers by Seagullâ„¢ installed.

You can use BarTender to produce camera-ready artwork of a single address that is to be printed many times (for example, on business reply envelopes).

Also, when you want to send bulk mailings to a variety of different addresses, you can integrate BarTender with Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) database software to perform the barcode translations for each different ZIP Code during the print job.
