Code 39 - Full ASCII |
The Symbology and Size property page for the Code 39 - Full ASCII symbology includes the following options.
Symbology: Specifies the symbology that is selected. You can use this list to select a different symbology.
Dimensions
X dimension: Specifies the width of the X dimension.
Opens the Barcode X Dimension dialog, which you can use to configure advanced X dimension settings.
Ratio: Specifies the ratio between the widths of the wide and narrow elements in the barcode. By default, the ratio is configured automatically, but you can specify any ratio from 2.0 to 1 through 3.0 to 1 in one-tenth increments.
Density: Specifies the number of characters that can be encoded per inch.
Height: Specifies the height of the bars from the top edge of the symbol to the bottom edge.
Symbology Specific Options
Start character: Specifies the start character, which represents the beginning of the symbol. This character is not transmitted with the barcode and is not included in any check digit calculations. When you set this option to Set by data source, BarTender uses the character that is read from the data source that is associated with the barcode symbol, such as embedded data or a database field.
Stop character: Specifies the stop character, which represents the end of the symbol. This character is not transmitted with the barcode and is not included in any check digit calculations. When you set this option to Set by data source, BarTender uses the character that is read from the data source that is associated with the barcode symbol, such as embedded data or a database field.
Check digit: Specifies that an optional check digit is used.
Check digit type: Specifies the algorithm that BarTender uses to calculate the appended check digit for the symbol. Available when the Check digit option is selected.
The following options are available:
MOD 43: Specifies that a modulo (mod) 43 check digit is used. Mod 43 is the check digit type that is used most often when the Code 39 family of barcodes is printed. Mod 43 is also the only setting that enables a check digit to be generated for Code 39 barcodes that contain alpha (non-numeric) characters in the data string. When you select one of the other check digit types, BarTender automatically ignores all alpha characters in your barcode data string.
UCC MOD 10: Specifies that a mod 10 check digit is used that is calculated by using the same formula that is used by the Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC, EAN, and GS1-128 (UCC/EAN-128) symbologies. Select this setting only when the barcode data string contains numeric-only data.
MSI MOD 10: Specifies that a mod 10 check digit is used that is calculated by using the same formula that is used by the MSI Plessey symbology. Select this setting only when the barcode data string contains numeric-only data.
UNISON MOD 10: Specifies that a mod 10 check digit is used that is calculated by using a modified version of the MSI Plessey check digit formula. Select this setting only when the barcode data string contains numeric-only data.
Color: Displays the currently selected color of the barcode symbol. To select a different color, click this option, and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.

Barcode scanners cannot read colored barcodes as well as they can read barcodes that are printed in black. Therefore, we recommend that you do not modify the color of barcode objects unless they are used only for decoration. |
Print Method: Opens the Print Method Options dialog, where you can specify how your barcodes are printed on thermal printers. Available when you use a thermal printer that has Drivers by Seagullâ„¢ installed.
