Adding Actions to the Document or Form

You can use BarTender to add any number of actions or groups of actions to various events that are associated with the document, the data entry form, or the button control and hyperlink text object on the data entry form. To do this, use one of the following methods.

ClosedTo add an action to a document event

  1. On the File menu, click BarTender Document Options.

  2. In the BarTender Document Options dialog, click the Actions tab.

  3. In the Document Actions area, make sure that the Enable document-level actions check box is selected, and then click Document Actions. The Document-Level Actions page opens.

  4. In the Events pane, click the event for which you want to add an action, and then click New Action. Alternatively, click next to the event. The New Action dialog opens.

  5. In the New Action dialog, click the action that you want to add, and then click OK. Alternatively, double-click the action.

ClosedTo add an action to a data entry form event

  1. Open the Form Properties dialog. To do this, double-click the data entry form. Alternatively, use the secondary mouse button to click the form, and then click Form Properties.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Form to display the Form property page.

  3. In the Actions area, click Actions. The Form-Level Actions page opens.

  4. In the Events pane, click the event for which you want to add an action, and then click New Action. Alternatively, click next to the event. The New Action dialog opens.

  5. In the New Action dialog, click the action that you want to add, and then click OK. Alternatively, double-click the action.

ClosedTo add an action to the button control or hyperlink text object event

This procedure applies only to the button control and the hyperlink text object. These items have one event associated with them: Control Clicked.

  1. Open the Object Properties dialog for the button control or hyperlink text object that you want. To do this, double-click the button control or hyperlink text object. Alternatively, use the secondary mouse button to click the control or object, and then click Properties.

  2. In the navigation pane, click Button or Hyperlink to display the Button property page or the Hyperlink property page.

  3. In the Actions area, click Actions. The Control Actions page opens.

  4. In the Events pane, click the Control Clicked event, and then click New Action. Alternatively, click next to the event. The New Action dialog opens.

  5. In the New Action dialog, click the action that you want to add, and then click OK. Alternatively, double-click the action.
