Files Pane |
The Files pane lists all of the files in a selected folder. By using the Files pane, you can view detailed information about the file and about each file revision, such as the revision number, size, workflow state, and comments.
When you save a file to the repository, Librarian stores information about the file as fields in the BarTender System Database. You can customize your view of this information by adding or removing columns in the Files pane. To do this, right-click any column header to display the list of available columns, and then click to select or clear the columns that you want to add or remove.
The following types of information can be displayed.

The comment that was entered for the file revision |
You can group the files by one of these fields. To do this, right-click the column header for the field that you want, and then click Group by This Column.
When you right-click one or more selected files in the Files pane, the context menu is displayed. The options that are available vary depending on the file properties and include the following:
Open: Opens the selected files for viewing only.
Get Latest Revision: Opens the Get File(s) dialog, which you can use to retrieve the selected files from the repository and then save them to a specific location on your computer. For more information, refer to Getting Revisions.
Check Out: Checks out the selected files and opens them for editing. If a file is not already saved to your computer when you check it out, the Get File(s) dialog is displayed. For more information, refer to Checking Out a File.
Check In: Checks in the selected files and saves any changes that were made to them while they were checked out. For more information, refer to Checking In a File.
Add: Opens the Add File(s) dialog, which you can use to browse to and add BarTender documents, images, or other files to the currently selected folder. For more information, refer to Adding a File.
Undo Check Out: Reverses the checkout operation and reverts any changes that were made to the files while they were checked out.
Transition: Displays the name of the next step in the workflow that you can access and move the file to. Click the step that you want to open the <Transition step> dialog. For more information about workflows, refer to the Administration Console help system. Available when the file is assigned to a workflow.
Cut: Moves the selected files to the Clipboard.
Copy: Copies the selected files to the Clipboard.
Paste: Copies the most recent files on the Clipboard to the selected location.
Select All: Selects all the files in the Files pane.
Rename: Makes the name of the selected file writable so that you can rename it.
Delete: Deletes the selected files from the repository. For more information, refer to Deleting, Restoring, and Purging Items.
Undelete: Restores deleted files to their original location in the repository.
Purge: Removes deleted items from the BarTender System Database. This operation removes all the history of the deleted items.

The purge operation cannot be reversed. Purged items cannot be restored. |

Add Comment: Opens the Add Comment dialog, where you can specify a comment to add to the selected files. For more information, refer to Adding and Editing Comments.
Embedded Revision Log: Opens the Embedded Revision Log dialog, which you can use to view changes that were made to the BarTender document. For more information, refer to Embedded Revision Log Dialog .
Properties: Displays the Properties dialog for the selected file. For more information, refer to Properties Dialog.
