A revision is a file that was modified from an earlier version. When you use Librarian as a revision control application, you can manage changes to files and compare and/or restore revisions.
When a user checks a file in to Librarian, the file is assigned a revision number. For example, when a file is first added to the repository, it is "revision 1." When the file is checked out, modified, and checked back in, it is "revision 2," and so on. Each revision is saved to the BarTender System Database along with the revision number, the timestamp, and the name of the user who made changes to the file.
You can retrieve the most recent version of a file or any previous revision from the repository and save it to your computer.

When you get a revision of a file, the revision that you select overwrites any revisions that might already exist in the same location on your computer. If you want to save two different revisions of a file to the same location on your computer, you must change the file name of one of the revisions.
