Creating an Image Capture Control

You can add an image capture control to your data entry form from either the Template Design view or the Data Entry Form view. In either case, it involves associating the image capture control on the form with a Print-time Image Capture Control object on your template.

The following procedures are provided to assist you in creating an image capture control. These procedures assume that you have installed on your computer the scanner, camera, or video device that you will use to obtain the image(s) that you want.

ClosedTo create an Image Capture Control from Template Design view

  1. On your template, click the icon and select Print-time Image Capture Control under Other Picture Sources.

  2. Click at the location on the template where you want to add the picture. The Picture Properties dialog automatically opens.

  3. In the Navigation Pane, select Picture to open the Picture property page.

  4. Update the following properties as necessary:

    • Control: Specify the image capture control on the data entry form that you want associated with this template object. If no available image capture control exists on the data entry form, this property will display a numbered image capture control that will be created on the data entry form for you.

    • Select Sample Picture: Select an image from your computer to show as a placeholder on your template.

  5. Click Close to close the Picture Properties dialog.

  6. Select Data Entry Form from the View menu to switch to the Data Entry Form view.

  7. Double-click on the image capture control to open the Image Capture Properties dialog. Alternatively, select Properties from the image capture control's context menu.

  8. In the Navigation Pane, select Image Capture to display the Image Capture property page.

  9. If multiple devices are connected to your computer, click Select to choose the device that you want.

  10. Edit the remaining properties on the Image Capture property page as necessary.

  11. Select additional property pages from the Navigation Pane of the Image Capture Properties dialog to further customize the control.

  12. Click Close to return to the data entry form.

ClosedTo create an Image Capture Control from the Data Entry Form view

  1. From the Create menu, click Data Entry Control and select Image Capture. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar and select Image Capture.

  2. Click on the data entry form to place the control at the cursor location.

  3. Double-click on the image capture control to open the Image Capture Properties dialog. Alternatively, select Properties from the image capture control's context menu.

  4. From the Navigation Pane, select Image Capture to display the Image Capture property page.

  5. If multiple devices are connected to your computer, click Select to choose the device you want.

  6. Edit the remaining properties on the Image Capture property page as necessary.

  7. Select additional property pages from the Navigation Pane of the Image Capture Properties dialog to further customize the control.

  8. Click Close to close the Image Capture Properties dialog.

  9. Select Template Design from the View menu to switch to Template Design view.

  10. On your template, click the icon and select Print-time Image Capture Control under Other Picture Sources.

  11. Click the location on the template where you want to add the picture. The Picture Properties dialog automatically opens.

  12. From the Navigation Pane, select Picture to open the Picture property page.

  13. Update the following properties as necessary:

    • Control: Specify the image capture control on the data entry form that you want associated with this template object.

    • Select Sample Picture: Select an image from your computer to show as a placeholder on your template.

  14. Click Close to return to the template.
