Managing Service Accounts

As an administrator, you can create and manage service accounts in BarTender Cloud. You can also edit or delete an existing service account.

Service accounts are non-human entities used for integration and automation services. A service account is not associated with a human user identity, email address, or interactive login capability. In addition to integrations, service accounts can also be assigned to printers, files and folders, and spaces.

  • For printer permissions, service accounts can be added through the existing Add Permission process.

  • For Librarian file and folder permissions, service accounts can be assigned granular permissions that mirror the permissions assigned to users. Supported permission levels include:

    • View

    • Create

    • Delete

  • For space permissions, service accounts can be added when creating and editing a space. Assigned service accounts appear in the permissions list similar to users.

Service accounts facilitate a machine-to-machine authentication process modeled on OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials.

  • To open the Service Accounts page, click on the header bar, then select Administration, Security, then Service Accounts.
