|
GS1 DataBar is also known as Reduced Space Symbology (RSS). |
The Symbology and Size property page for the GS1 DataBar symbology includes the following options.
Symbology: Specifies the symbology that is selected. You can use this list to select a different symbology.
Dimensions
X dimension: Specifies the width of the X dimension.
Opens the Barcode X Dimension dialog, which you can use to configure advanced X dimension settings.
Ratio: Specifies the ratio between the widths of the wide and narrow elements in a barcode symbol. By default, this option is set to Auto and cannot be changed.
Density: Not available for this symbology.
Height: Not available for this symbology.
Symbology Specific Options
Type: Specifies the symbologies that are used in the composite symbol and their configuration. The following options are available:
GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional: Specifies the Omnidirectional type, which is a symbol that can be read the same regardless of how the scanner is oriented relative to it.
GS1 DataBar Truncated: Specifies the Truncated type, which is an Omnidirectional symbol that is reduced in height.
GS1 DataBar Stacked: Specifies the Stacked type, which consists of two GS1 DataBar Truncated symbols stacked one on top of the other.
GS1 DataBar Stacked Omnidirectional: Specifies the Stacked Omnidirectional type, which consists of two GS1 DataBar Omnidirectional symbols stacked one on top of the other.
GS1 DataBar Limited: Specifies the Limited type, which is a small fixed-length symbol.
GS1 DataBar Expanded: Specifies the Expanded type, which is a larger symbol that can encode supplementary data.
GS1 DataBar Expanded Stacked: Specifies the Expanded Stacked type, which consists of two GS1 DataBar Expanded symbols stacked one on top of the other. It can be read omnidirectionally.
Depending on the symbol type that you select, one or more of the following options are available:
Separator height: Specifies the height of the separator pattern as a multiple of the X dimension. This pattern is required to prevent cross-row scanning errors and contains no data. Available when Hold to GS1 specifications is not selected for the symbol types that support this option.
1D row height: Specifies the row height for the symbol (or for each row of the symbol in the case of GS1 DataBar Stacked Omnidirectional). Available when Hold to GS1 specifications is not selected.
Segments/Row: Specifies the number of symbol segments in each row of the symbol.
Hold to GS1 specifications: Specifies that the symbol's 1-D height is fixed as a multiple of the X dimension to comply with the GS1 specifications. Additionally, depending on the symbology type, the separator pattern height might be fixed at 1X.
Apply application identifier specification: Specifies that application identifier specifications are added to make the barcode compliant with GS1 standards.
GS1 DataBar Data Source Wizard: Starts the GS1 DataBar Data Source wizard, which you can use to configure the barcode's individual fields as separate data sources. These data sources are correctly formatted with the settings that ensure that the raw data conforms to the symbology specifications, although you can edit them as needed.
Color: Displays the currently selected color of the barcode symbol. To select a different color, click this option, and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.

Barcode scanners cannot read colored barcodes as well as they can read barcodes that are printed in black. Therefore, we recommend that you do not modify the color of barcode objects unless they are used only for decoration. |
Print Method: Opens the Print Method Options dialog, where you can specify how your barcodes are printed on thermal printers. Available when you use a thermal printer that has Drivers by Seagullâ„¢ installed.
