User Permissions Page |
Use this page, which you can access from the Security node of Administration Console, to specify the permissions that users and groups have and to limit access to certain actions for applications in the BarTender Suite. The User Permissions page includes the following panes.
Users and Groups
The Users and Groups pane lists all users and groups that are added to the BarTender security setup and to which you can assign permissions.
Add: Opens the Add User or Group dialog, which you can use to select additional users and groups to assign permissions to.
Remove: Deletes the currently selected user or group from the Users and Groups pane and removes their permissions.
|
After you enable the BarTender security settings, any Windows user or group that is not specified in the User Permissions page is automatically denied access to all actions in the BarTender Suite. |
When you right-click a user or group in this pane, a menu is displayed that includes the following options:
Allow All: Specifies that the Allow check box is selected for all permissions.
Deny All: Specifies that the Deny check box is selected for all permissions.
Uncheck All: Specifies that all check boxes are cleared for all permissions. When you use this option for a user, the permissions settings are inherited from the user's group membership. If the user is not a group member, all actions are denied.
Reset to Defaults: Specifies that the default permissions settings are restored.
Remove: Removes the selected user or group from the list.
Set as template for new users: Specifies that the permissions settings of the currently selected user or group are applied when you add new users. This feature can save time when you need to add multiple users that have the same permissions.
Effective Permissions: Opens the Effective Permissions dialog, which displays the actions that are allowed or denied for the currently selected user or group based on the current permissions settings, which include permissions that are inherited from groups that the user or group belongs to.
You can also use this dialog to view the effective permissions for any other user or group. To do this, click Select to open the Add User or Group dialog, and then locate the user or group that you want. If the permissions for a selected user or group need to be modified, click Close to return to the User Permissions page, add the user or group to the list as needed, and then configure the permissions.
Permissions
The Permissions pane lists the applications in your BarTender Suite and the actions that can be restricted for each application. For each action, you can specify either Allow or Deny for the user or group that is currently selected in the Users and Groups pane. If you do not specify either Allow or Deny, permissions are inherited from the user's group membership. If a user is not a member of a group, then the absence of a specification is equivalent to the Deny option being specified.
When permission is denied, allow login override: Specifies that when a user is denied permission to access a feature, a dialog is displayed that requests a login override. A login override allows another user who does have permissions to use the feature to enter his or her user name and password to provide one-time access to the feature.
