Enabling Separate Back and Front Designs

You can use double-sided printing to print the same design on both the front and back sides of the page or to print one design on the front of the page and a different design on the back side. When your item requires different front and back designs, you can set up BarTender to design the two sides separately in different templates.

ClosedTo enable separate front and back designs

  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup to open the Page Setup dialog. Alternatively, click the icon on the main toolbar or double-click a blank area of the template.

  2. Click the Page tab.

  3. Under Template Design Options, click to select the Separate designs for front and back of item template check box.

  4. Optionally, click to select the Rotate back side of item template 180 check box. When you use this option, the design on the back side of the item is rotated 180 degrees when it is printed.

  5. Click OK to close the Page Setup dialog.

After you enable separate front and back designs, you are ready to design and modify your templates. To modify the front design, click the Template (Front) tab at the bottom of the design area. To modify the back design, click the Template (Back) tab.

To switch between the front and back templates, press F7 on your keyboard.

When you print the document, BarTender sends both the front and back designs as a single print job. It is not possible to print the front of the item without the back side, and vice versa. To print only one design, clear the Separate designs for front and back of item template check box in the Page Setup dialog.

If you clear the Separate designs for front and back of item template check box, only the template for the front design is retained. The template for the back design is deleted and cannot be restored. If you re-select the Separate designs for front and back of item template option in the future, you must create the back design again.

If you send a document that contains different designs for the front and back to a printer that does not support duplex printing, the front and back designs are printed on two separate pages.
