Security Page |
Use the Administration Console Security page to turn BarTender security on or off and to specify where the security settings are stored: on the local computer or in the BarTender System Database. You can also select a method for error handling. To access the Security page, click Security in the left navigation pane of Administration Console.
Enable Security for this computer: Makes the integrated security system available for your BarTender installation so that you can define user permissions, log permission checks, require electronic signatures, and/or encrypt BarTender documents. To turn off BarTender security, click to clear this check box.
: Restores the security settings that are stored in the BarTender System Service.

After you configure the BarTender security settings, any Windows user or group that is not listed on the User Permissions page is automatically denied access to all actions within the BarTender Suite. |
Security Policy
Effective for this computer only: Specifies that the BarTender security policy settings are configured only for the local computer.
Effective for all computers sharing the BarTender System Database: Specifies that the BarTender security policy settings are shared among all the computers that use the same BarTender System Database.
Backup Policy: Opens the Save security XML to file dialog so that you can save the BarTender security settings to a file on the network.
Restore Policy: Opens the Select security XML file to import dialog so that you can import the BarTender security settings from a file on the network.
Error Handling
You can configure how errors are handled when the shared BarTender security policy is not accessible, as follows:
Deny access to all actions: Specifies that all actions are unavailable until the problem is fixed.
Use cached security policy: Specifies that the last known cached security settings are used until the BarTender security system can reconnect.
