Adding a Scale Display Control to a Form

After you have installed and configured a scale, you can import data from your scale to a scale display control on a data entry form. A scale display control is an interactive scale on a form that displays the weight currently applied to the weighing scale connected to your computer. This control enables you to capture that weight and accept it as user input into the data entry form.

The following procedures describe how to add a scale display control to your data entry form, connect the control to an installed scale, and link the control to an object on your template so that the measured weight will print on your document.

From the Create menu of the Data Entry Form view, click Data Entry Control and select Scale Display. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar and select Scale Display.
Click on the data entry form to place the control at the cursor location.
Double-click the control to open the Scale Display Properties dialog. Alternatively, select Properties from the control's context menu.
In the Left Navigation pane, click Scale to open the Scale property page.
From the Scale dropdown list, select an installed scale. If you have not yet installed any scales, select New to launch the Add Scale Wizard. For more information, refer to Installing a Scale.

When you've connected a scale to the scale display control, click the Start Test button to make sure the scale is working with the control.

Double-click on the control to open the Scale Display Properties dialog. Alternatively, select Properties from the control's context menu.
From the Navigation Pane, select Linked Data Source.
From the list of data sources on the Linked Data Source property page, select the data source you want linked to the selected control.
Click Close to close the Scale Display Properties dialog.
