Rotating Objects

You can rotate an object, either in place around its center point or around a specified reference point. The available reference points for rotation are the top left, the top center, the top right, the center left, center, the center right, the bottom left, the bottom center, and the bottom right of the object. Note that barcodes may only be rotated in 90 degree increments, while other object types may be rotated by any amount.

Objects can be rotated using one of the following methods:

ClosedPosition Property Page

The Position property page of the Object Properties dialog contains a Rotation option where you can specify the angle of rotation. When using the Position property page to rotate an object, the selected object will rotate around the object reference point, specified in the Position section at the top of the page.

The reference point specified in the Advanced Position Settings dialog of the Position property page only determines the positioning of the object, not its rotation. The object reference point chosen on the Position property page does not affect the other rotation methods discussed below. For more information on reference points, see Understanding Reference Points.

ClosedRotate Dialog

The Rotate dialog, accessible from the Arrange menu, enables you to rotate the selected object in place around its own center point. Using this dialog, you can set the angle of rotation and specify the direction you wish to rotate your object.

ClosedArrange Toolbar

The arrange toolbar contains icons to align, move, and rotate the objects selected on your template. To rotate an object, click the icon that you want on the toolbar to rotate the selected object in place in increments of 1 degree or 90 degrees around its own center point. The following rotation icons are available:

Rotates the object 90 degrees clockwise.

Rotates the object 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Rotates the object 1 degree clockwise. Not available for barcode objects.

Rotates the object 1 degree counterclockwise. Not available for barcode objects.

Rotates the object 180 degrees.

ClosedUsing the Mouse

To rotate an object using the mouse, click and hold down on the blue dot along the top edge of the object. Drag the mouse clockwise or counterclockwise to rotate the object around its own center point accordingly and release the mouse button when the rotation angle that you want is achieved.
