Duplicate Dialog |
The Duplicate dialog allows you specify the number of copies you want to create from a selected object or objects, and configure how those copies are placed on the template relative to the original object(s). Alternatively, you can specify that the copies are placed on subsequent templates in the document, in the same location on those templates as the location of the original object(s) on the original template. You can access this dialog in one of the following ways:
After you have selected the object(s) you want to duplicate, choose Duplicate from the Arrange menu.
After you have selected the object(s) you want to duplicate, open the object's context menu, select Arrange, and choose Duplicate.
|
To open the Duplicate dialog, select the object(s) you want to duplicate and press Ctrl+D on your keyboard. |
Select the method you want to use to duplicate the object(s) and configure the properties for that method.
Duplicate vertically: When enabled, copies of the selected object are placed either below or above the selected object, depending on the Offset value specified.
Copies: Specifies the number of duplicate copies you want to create. You can type a value in the input box or use the up and down arrows to select the desired number.
Offset: Specifies the amount of vertical space you want between each of the objects. A positive value places the copies below the original object. A negative value places the copies above the original object.
Duplicate horizontally: When enabled, copies of the selected object are placed either to the right or left of the selected object, depending on the Offset value specified.
Copies: Specifies the number of duplicate copies you want to create. You can type a value in the input box or use the up and down arrows to select the desired number.
Offset: Specifies the amount of horizontal space you want between each of the objects. A positive value places the copies to the right of the original object. A negative value places the copies to the left of the original object.
Duplicate horizontally and vertically (table layout): When enabled, copies of the selected objects are placed both horizontally and vertically to the selected object to form a table layout that includes both the copies and the original selected object.
Columns: Specifies the number of columns you want to be generated by the object and its duplicate copies. You can type a value in the input box or use the up and down arrows to select the desired number.
Rows: Specifies the number of rows you want to be generated by the object and its duplicate copies. You can type a value in the input box or use the up and down arrows to select the desired number.
Horizontal Offset: Specifies the amount of horizontal space you want between each of the objects (i.e., the columns). When a positive value is specified, the copies are placed to the right of the original object. When a negative value is specified, the copies are placed to the left of the original object.
Vertical Offset: Specifies the amount of vertical space you want between each of the objects (i.e., the rows). When a positive value is specified, the copies are placed below the original object. When a negative value is specified, the copies are placed above the original object.
Duplicate to next templates: When enabled, a copy of the selected object is placed on as many subsequent templates in the document as you specify. Each copy is placed in the same location on the subsequent templates as it appears on the original template.
Copies: Specifies the number of subsequent templates that you want the object(s) copied to. You can type a value in the input box or use the up and down arrows to select the desired number.
|
If you have specified more copies than the number of existing templates in the document, a prompt will request permission to create the necessary template(s). If there are more templates than copies indicated, no copies are placed on the remaining templates. |
Clone data source values: Specifies that the copies are linked to the same data source value(s) as the original object(s). If the data source value of an original object is subsequently updated, the data source value of any duplicated copy is also updated.
