Protected Actions
The Protected Actions section allows you to select which actions on the document you wish to protect. Any actions that are protected will prompt the user for the document password. When using the ActiveX interface, specifying a password for opening documents using the Format.SpecifyLabelFormatPassword method is not supported. |
Save Document. Restricts the ability to save the document. If the user needs to modify the document in any way, they will need this permission to save their changes.
Save Copy of Document. Restricts the ability to save a copy of the document using the Save As command in the File menu.
Print. Restricts the ability to print the document.
Modify Template Design. Restricts the ability to change the appearance or position of objects on the template. When protected, a padlock is shown on the template to indicate the document is locked, and the user will not be able to modify any objects without first entering the password.
Modify Protected VB Script(s). Restricts the ability to modify any protected VB Scripts in the document. To protect a VB Script, you must also set the "Protected" check box in the Script Assistant dialog for each script you wish to protect. This allows the designer to protect their proprietary VB Script code.
Modify Print Dialog Options. Restricts the ability to change options in the Print dialog. When protected, users can still open the Print dialog.
Modify Page Setup. Restricts the ability to modify settings in the Page Setup dialog.
Modify Database Setup. Restricts the ability to modify settings in the Database Connection Setup dialog.
Modify Layers. Restricts the ability to modify settings in the Layer Properties dialog. Also restricts the ability to change the previously set locked/unlocked status of individual layers. When protected, users can still modify or delete existing objects on unlocked layers and can add new objects to unlocked layers. They cannot, however, add new layers to the document.
Remember Document Password Until Close
If this option is selected, then the user will only be asked to enter the password once. Once the correct password is entered, the document will stay unlocked for as long as it is open, and the user will be able to perform all of the protected actions without having to reenter the password.
If this option is unchecked, then the user will be prompted to enter the password every time they perform any of the protected actions. The action "Modify Template Design" is an exception to this; once the correct password is entered, a user will be able to modify the template for as long as the document is open.
