Data Entry Form View

The Data Entry Form view is an editor that enables you to design one or more data entry forms that appear at print time and enable users to input data required by the item to be printed. While designing forms, you have access to many of the same design features available in the Template Design view, allowing you to customize the appearance of the data entry form as it appears at print-time.

There are a number of ways you can switch from the Template Design view to the Data Entry Form view:

When using BarTender's scrolling tools, it is possible to "lose" the data entry form by scrolling it completely out of the design area. When this occurs, BarTender displays a Find Form button on the right side of your top ruler. Click this button and BarTender will automatically center the data entry form in the design area. Alternatively, you can press Home on your keyboard for the same results.

The following components are available:

ClosedMain Menu Bar

The Main Menu bar is the horizontal bar across the top of the screen that enables you to pull down menus. It contains a list of commands to configure and use BarTender. The following menus are available:

ClosedToolbars

The toolbars contain shortcut buttons to some of the most frequently used commands. The following toolbars are available:

For more information, see Toolbars.

ClosedToolbox

For more information, see Toolbox.

ClosedTabs

The tabs at the bottom of the display provide access to the templates, page template, and data entry forms associated with the open document.

The Page Template editor is only available if enabled on the Page tab of the Page Setup dialog.

ClosedStatus Bar

The status bar is found at the bottom of the user interface. When no control or object is selected, it displays general information about the document and data entry form itself. This basic information includes such details as the printer currently associated with the document and size of the form. When a control or object is selected, the status bar displays the name, position, and size of the control or object. For more detailed information, you can move your cursor over the section of the status bar that you want to display a tooltip.

When you hover over an icon on a toolbar or a menu item, the basic document information will be replaced with a short description of the highlighted item. This is useful in determining how a specific tool is used, or identifying the tool that corresponds to a particular icon on the toolbar.

In some cases, you may wish for BarTender to hide the status bar, so that it does not appear at the bottom of the application window. To toggle the visibility of the status bar, use one of the following methods:

To switch to the Data Entry Form view, press F8 on your keyboard.
