BarTender will read records from the databases and source the data into the appropriately configured objects on the template. You can open the Database Connection Setup dialog using one of the following methods:

To open the Database Connection Setup dialog, press Ctrl+D on your keyboard.

If you have not previously connected to a database, the following methods will launch the Add Database Connection Wizard. Complete the wizard to display the Database Connection Setup dialog.

All Databases Tree View

The All Database Tree View (located on the left side of the Database Connection Setup dialog) gives the user access to all available databases, including tables and fields for view, modifications, queries, SQL statements, etc. Any level of the tree view can be expanded by clicking on the (+) sign to the left of its icon and collapsed by pressing the (-) sign.

The root item of the tree view is All Databases. Below it you will find all of the databases that have been added. Beneath each database is a list of all of the tables selected for that database. Below each table are the fields in that table. Selecting a particular item in the tree view will show its corresponding options in the tabs to the right of the tree view. The selected item determines which Database Connection Setup tabs are made available. You can display a context menu with various database options by right-clicking on an item in the All Databases tree.

On the right side of the Database Connection Setup dialog, the following tabs allow you to customize your database connection. These tabs will appear based on the item that is selected in the All Databases tree.
