Viewing a File's Revision History

You can view the revision history of a workflow to see how the workflow has evolved and who has been involved in it's creation.

To open the Revision History page

  1. Click in the toolbar to open the BarTender Cloud menu, then click Librarian. Alternatively, you can click the Librarian button on the Home page.

  2. In the Space list, select the space where the document is located, if applicable.

  3. In Librarian, select the file whose revision history you want to view.

  4. Click History. Alternatively, right-click the file or click and select History.

    In the Revision column in Librarian, you can also click the revision number of the file whose revision history you want to view, if it is a live link, to open a dialog that displays the file's entire revision history. A file's version number only becomes a live link when a workflow has been added to the space. In this dialog click and choose History to open the Revision History page.

ClosedTo add a comment to a revision

  1. On the Revision History page, click Add Comment to open the Revision Comment dialog

  2. Enter information about that revision.

  3. Click Add.

  1. In the Revisions pane of the Revision History page, select the revision that you want to view.

  2. Click View Revision Image to display an image of the file as it appeared after that specified revision. Available for BarTender documents.

  3. Click Close to close the Revision dialog when finished.

ClosedTo hide and show all comments

  1. On the Revision History page, click Hide Comments to hide the comments included with each entry of the revision.

  2. To display the comments again, click Show Comments.

All comments for all the revisions are either hidden or shown.

ClosedTo roll back a revision

If the revision you selected is not the most current revision, you can roll the current version of the file back to the selected version.

  1. In the Revisions pane of the Revision History page, select the revision that you want to roll back to.

  2. Click Rollback Revision. The Rollback File dialog displays the name of the current file and the revision number to which it will be rolled back.

  3. In the Comment field, enter a comment about why your are rolling back the current revision.

  4. Click OK to roll the file back to the selected revision.

  5. You can only rollback a revision if you have Admin permissions. Otherwise, this option will not be available.

ClosedTo return to Librarian

  • On the Revision History page, click Close.
