Using the Intelligent Form Builder
Working with Forms
The controls at the top of the Intelligent Form Builder page enable the user to:

: View the form as it would appear on a desktop -
: View the form as it would appear on a tablet. -
: View the form as it would appear on a phone. -
: Add up to 4 new pages to the current form. -
: Move between pages on a form.
Form Properties
Basic form properties enable the user to print from a form instead of a label, control whether the printer and number of copies can be specified from the Preview dialog, and decide whether a progress indicator displays for multi-page forms.

Allow Label Launcher: When this property is enabled, the user can start the print from the form rather than from the label. When this is enabled and the form is in production, the Print option is available for the forms file in Librarian. By default, this option is enabled.

Print Selector: When this property is enabled along with Allow Label Launcher, a Printer dropdown displays at the bottom of the form enabling the user to select which printer to use.
When this field is not enabled but Allow Label Launcher is, the Default Printer dropdown displays in the Properties section of the Intelligent Form Builder where the user can specify the default printer for this form.

Copies Selection: When this property is enabled along with Allow Label Launcher, a Copies field displays at the bottom of the form enabling the user to specify the number of labels to print.

Display Progress Indicator: When this property is enabled, the Print page displays a progress indicator on the form dialog so the user can keep track of which page they are on.
Working with Components
The components of the Intelligent Form Builder are divided into two types: controls, that users can interact at print time; and content, which is used to organize forms and convey information to the user.
Controls
Controls enable the user to enter data at print time. Drag individual controls from the Controls tab onto the label to position them.
Use this component to enter text at print time.
Attributes

Component Name: An internal identifier for the component. You can accept the default value or enter your own. Each Component Name must be unique.

Label: Enter the name to be displayed on the form.

Default Value: Enter the default value for the field using up to 255 characters.

Data Type: Select the type of data entered into the field. Available options are:

Regular Text

Number

Email
-
URL

Minimum Characters: Set the minimum number of characters that must be entered in the field, up to 255.

Maximum Characters: Set the maximum number of characters that can be entered in the field, up to 500.

Placeholder Text: Enter the text that displays in the field by default.

Enabled: Indicate whether the component is enabled on the form.

Required: Indicate if an entry in the field is required in order to print

Width: Set the width of the component, either as a percentage or in pixels.

Alignment: Specify whether the component is aligned to the left, right, or center.
Use this component to enter longer text at print time.

Width: Set the width of the component, either as a percentage or in pixels.

Alignment: Specify whether the component is aligned to the left, right, or center.

Default Number of Text Rows: Indicate the number of rows allowed by default.

User Resizable: Indicate whether the user can resize the component.
Use this component to create to a group of radio buttons that can be selected at print time.

Enabled: Indicate whether the component is enabled on the form.

Options

Add Option: Click to add another item to the group.

Value: Enter the value that will be sent at print time if this item is selected.

Display Text: Enter the text that will be displayed beside the radio button on the form.

Selected by Default: Indicate whether this item is selected by default.
Layout

Width: Set the width of the component, either as a percentage or in pixels.

Alignment: Specify whether the component is aligned to the left, right, or center.

Alignment (required): Indicate the display order of the radio buttons: stacked or inline.
Use this component to create a checkbox that can be selected at print time.

Label: Enter the name to be displayed on the form.

Enabled: Indicate whether the component is enabled on the form.

Default: Checked: Indicate whether the default value of the checkbox is checked or unchecked.

Width: Set the width of the component, either as a percentage or in pixels.

Alignment: Specify whether the component is aligned to the left, right, or center.

Checkbox Location: Set whether the checkbox appears before the text (Left) or after the text (Right).
Use this component to create a dropdown list that can be used at print time.

Use this component to create an on/off switch that can be selected from at print time.

Default: On: Indicate whether the default value for this component is on or off.

Enabled: Indicate whether the component is enabled on the form.

Width: Set the width of the component, either as a percentage or in pixels.

Alignment: Specify whether the component is aligned to the left, right, or center.

Switch Location: Set whether the switch appears before the text (Left) or after the text (Right).
Content
Content components enable the user to control how the form will appear at print time, whether it includes any explanatory text, and whether any external links are included. Drag individual components from the Content tab onto the label to position them.
Use this component to add an image to the form. Links to image files are not allowed; images are stored in Track & Trace.
Supported file types are: .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .tif, .tiff, .bmp, and .svg.
Attributes

Image: Click Replace Image to add a new image or replace an existing one.

Alternate Text: Enter a description of the image.
Layout
-
Height: Enter the height of the image in pixels. When you enter a value in this field, the value in the Width field is automatically adjusted to maintain a 1:1 ratio.

Width: Enter the width of the image in pixels. When you enter a value in this field, the value in the Height field is automatically adjusted to maintain a 1:1 ratio.

Max Width: Enter the maximum width of the image as a percentage of the image's size.
-
Alignment: Select whether the image should be left, center, right, or fully aligned.
Use this component to create a headline or title for the form.

Text Content: Enter the text that will appear on the form.
Style

Headline Size: Select the size of the headline or title on the form, from 1 to 6.

Text Justification: Select whether the text should be left, center, right, or fully justified in the component.

Text Color: Specify the color of the text in the popup or by entering the color-hex code.
Use this component to add a label or explanatory text to the form.
Attributes

Text Content: Enter the text that will appear on the form.
Style
-
Text Size: Set the size of the text on the form. Minimum size is 0.5 points. Maximum is 3600 points.

Text Color: Specify the color of the text in the popup or by entering the color-hex code.

Font Style: Indicate if the text should be bolded, italicized, or underlined.

Text Justification: Select whether the text should be left, center, right, or fully justified in the component.
Use this component to create an external link on the form.
Attributes
-
Label: Enter the text that will display for the link.
-
Link: Enter the URL for the external link, beginning with https://.
Style
-
Text Size: Set the size of the text on the form.
-
Font Style: Indicate if the text should be bolded, italicized, or underlined.
-
Text Justification: Select whether the text should be left, center, right, or fully justified in the component.
Use this component to create a separation between components on the form.
Style
-
Height: Enter the height of the separator in pixels. The maximum height is 96 pixels.

Display Separator Line: Select to display a line as the separator instead of just blank space. When you select this checkbox, the following controls appear.

Line Weight: Enter the weight, or thickness, of the line in pixels.
-
Line Color: Specify the color of the line in the popup or by entering the color-hex code.

Vertical Alignment: Set whether the component is aligned to the top, middle, or bottom of the component.

Linking Forms and Label Templates
Before you can use a form, the form must be connected to at least one label that contains at least one exposed variable.
Label Template
Each form must be connected to at least one label that contains at least one exposed variable.

Link Label File: Click to open Link Label Template dialog, where you can link one or more label files to the current form.

: Click to open the Configure Variable Mapping dialog where you can link variables in the label file to components in the form. Once a form has been linked to a template file, the icon for that link changes to

: Click to unlink a label template file and a form.
