Borders and Shading Property Page (Table Objects) |
Use the Borders and Shading property page when you configure a table object to show or hide table or cell borders, specify line style for table or cell borders, and specify shading options for rows and columns in the table or individual table cells.
The following options are available.
Borders
Sides: Specifies the border sides that you want to configure: left, top, right, or bottom. Click Select All to select all four sides. Alternatively, select the side that you want to configure. To select more than one side, hold down the Shift or Ctrl key as you click each side that you want to select.
Show border: Specifies that the border is visible for the selected border sides.

The following border options are available when Show border is selected. |
Thickness: Specifies the thickness of the border.
Color: Displays the currently selected color of the border. To select a different color , click , and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.
Transparency: Specifies the degree to which objects and colors that are under the border can be seen. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.
Dash Style: Specifies the dash style of the border. Options range from a solid line to a variety of dashed and dotted lines. For more information, refer to Dash Style.
Compound Style: Specifies the number and thickness of the lines that the border is made of. For more information, refer to Compound Style.
Shading
The options that are available for shading depend on whether you opened the property page for a column, row, cell, or table.
When you select a column, row, or cell, the following options are available:
Fill: Specifies the background color or pattern for the column, row, or cell. Click , and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.
Transparency: Specifies the degree to which objects and colors that are under the background shading of the column, row, or cell can be seen. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.
When you select a table, the following options are available:
Normal: Specifies that all rows and columns in the table are shaded in the color or pattern that you choose. When this option is selected, the following properties are available:
Fill: Specifies the background color or pattern for the table. Click , and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.
Transparency: Specifies the degree to which objects and colors that are under the background shading of the table can be seen. The range is from 0 (opaque) to 100 (completely transparent). For more information, refer to Transparency.
Alternating Rows: Specifies that you can configure alternate row shading. When this option is selected, the following properties are available:
Odd Row Fill: Specifies the background color or pattern and transparency settings for the odd numbered rows in the table. Click , and then use the Color Picker to select the color that you want. For more information, refer to Color Picker.
