Creating an Image Capture Control

You can add an image capture control to your data entry form in either Template Design view or Data Entry Form view. In either case, you associate the image capture control on the form with a print-time image capture control object on your template.

The following procedures assume that you have already installed the scanner, camera, or video device that you want to use to obtain the images.

ClosedTo create an image capture control in Template Design view

  1. On your template, click the icon, and then click Print-time Image Capture Control under Other Picture Sources.

  2. Click the location on the template where you want to add the picture. The Picture Properties dialog opens.

  3. In the navigation pane, click Picture to open the Picture property page.

  4. Update the following properties as needed:

    • Control: Specify the image capture control on the data entry form that you want to be associated with this template object. If no available image capture control exists on the data entry form, this property displays a numbered image capture control that is created on the data entry form for you.

    • Select Sample Picture: Select an image from your computer to be displayed as a placeholder on your template.

  5. Click Close to close the Picture Properties dialog.

  6. On the View menu, click Data Entry Form to switch to the Data Entry Form view.

  7. Double-click the image capture control to open the Image Capture Properties dialog. Alternatively, right-click the control, and then click Properties.

  8. In the navigation pane, click Image Capture to display the Image Capture property page.

  9. If multiple devices are connected to your computer, click Select to choose the device that you want.

  10. Edit the other properties on the Image Capture property page and the settings on the other property pages as needed.

  11. Click Close to return to the data entry form.

ClosedTo create an image capture control in Data Entry Form view

  1. On the Create menu, click Data Entry Control, and then click Image Capture. Alternatively, click the icon on the object toolbar, and then click Image Capture.

  2. Click the location on the data entry form where you want to place the control.

  3. Double-click the image capture control to open the Image Capture Properties dialog. Alternatively, right-click the control, and then click Properties.

  4. In the navigation pane, click Image Capture to display the Image Capture property page.

  5. If multiple devices are connected to your computer, click Select to choose the device you want.

  6. Edit the other properties on the Image Capture property page and the settings on the other property pages as needed.

  7. Click Close to close the Image Capture Properties dialog.

  8. On the View menu, click Template Design to switch to Template Design view.

  9. On your template, click the icon, and then click Print-time Image Capture Control under Other Picture Sources.

  10. Click the location on the template where you want to add the picture. The Picture Properties dialog opens.

  11. In the navigation pane, click Picture to open the Picture property page.

  12. Update the following properties as needed:

    • Control: Specify the image capture control on the data entry form that you want to be associated with this template object.

    • Select Sample Picture: Select an image from your computer to be displayed as a placeholder on your template.

  13. Click Close to return to the template.
