BarTender provides built-in support for printing your to a PDF file and saving the output file to a location that you specify.
Use the options in the Print dialog to instruct BarTender to print your document to PDF; to configure security, permissions, and view settings for the output file; and to specify whether the location where the file is saved is determined at print time or automatically.
To print a document to a PDF file

On the File menu, click Print to open the Print dialog. Alternatively, click the icon on the main toolbar.

In the Name list of available printers, select PDF.

You can also configure your document to select PDF from a database field, a , or a . For more information, refer to Selecting a Printer.

Optionally, click Export Options to configure security, permissions, and view options settings, and then click OK.

Click File Location to specify whether the location where the PDF output file is saved is determined at print time or automatically by using the path and file name that you specify, and then click OK.

Click Print to print the document. Alternatively, click Close to return to the without running the print job.
To specify that the file location is selected at print time

On the File menu, click Print to open the Print dialog. Alternatively, click the icon on the main toolbar.

In the Name list, verify that PDF is selected.

Click File Location.

In the File Location dialog, click Select at print time, and then click OK.
To specify that the file location is selected automatically

On the File menu, click Print to open the Print dialog. Alternatively, click the icon on the main toolbar.

In the Name list, verify that PDF is selected.

Click File Location.

In the File Location dialog, click Generate file name.

In the Folder field, specify the folder in which you want the output file to be saved.

In the File Name field, specify the name that you want to be used for the PDF output file. You can manually enter a file name in the field, and you can also use print-time variables as part of the file name. To do this, follow these steps:

Click the File Name field in the location where you want the variable to appear in the output file name.

Click , and then select the variable source that you want.

In the When File Exists list, specify the behavior that you want to occur when a file that has the same name as the output file already exists in the specified location, as follows:

To append a serialized number to the name of the new file, click Make Unique.

To replace the existing file with the new file, click Overwrite.

Click OK.
