Serialization Value Dialog |
Use the Serialization Value dialog to specify how BarTender determines the value of a numerical serialization option, such as the amount to increment by. To open this dialog, click the icon that appears next to several options in the Serialization dialog.
|
Depending on the option you select, this dialog might be called one of the following:
|
You can specify that a value always stays the same, or you can choose to dynamically change the value based on a database field or named data source. If you pull in a value by using a database field or named data source, the populated value must be a numeric type.
You can open the Serialization Value dialog from the following areas of the Serialization dialog:
On the Serialization tab:
Click to the right of the Increment by property.
Click to the right of the Event interval property.
On the Reset tab:
Click to select Specified value is reached, and then click to the right of the Value property.
Click to select Data changes, and then click to the right of the Data Item property.
Click to select any option in the When to Reset Serialized Value section, and then click to the right of the Reset to property in the Reset Value section.
|
In the Print Quantity section on the Serialization tab, clicking to the right of the available properties opens the Print Quantity Options dialog rather than the Serialization Value dialog. |
The following options are available in the Serialization Value dialog:
Constant: Sets the selected value to the specified numerical value. This value always remains constant.
Get value from database field: Sets the value based on the contents of the specified database field. If the document is not currently connected to a database, this option is unavailable. To continue, you must connect to a database by using the Database Setup dialog, which you can access from the File menu.
Get value from named data source: Sets the value based on the existing value of a named data source in your document. If the document does not have any named data sources, this option is unavailable. To continue, you must create a named data source, as described in Creating Named Data Sources.
