Computers Pane

When Printer Maestro detects a computer that is running the Printer Maestro service, it stores information about the computer in its database. You can view this information by adding or removing columns in the Computers pane. The following information can be accessed from the database.

Field	Description
Name	Displays the name of the computer. This field is required and is included in the default view.
Operating System	Displays the operating system that is currently running on the computer.
Comment	Displays a user-defined description of the computer that is specified in the System Properties dialog.
IP Address	Displays the IP address of the computer, in IPv4 or IPv6 format.
Domain	Displays the name of the domain.
Workgroup	Displays the name of the workgroup.
DNS Name	Displays the full domain name of the computer.
DNS Domain	Displays the full name of the domain that the computer belongs to.
Processor	Displays the type of the computer processor.
Cores	Displays the number of computer processor cores.
Status	Displays the computer's current status.
Service Version	Displays the version of the Printer Maestro service that is currently running on the computer. If the computer is offline or the service is unavailable, the last known version is displayed.
Last Responded	Displays the time when the application service on the computer last responded.

The Status column of the Computers pane displays the current status of the computer. The value that is displayed is determined in part by the status of the application service that is running on the computer. The possible status values are as follows.

Status	Description
Computer Offline	The remote computer was previously recognized by this computer and is now no longer visible.
Service Running	The remote computer's application service is installed and running.
Service Stopped	The remote computer's application service is stopped.
Service Stopping	The remote computer's application service is stopping.
Service Starting	The remote computer's application service is starting.
Service Paused	The remote computer's application service is paused.
Service Incompatible	The version of the application service that is running on this computer is not compatible with the application service that is running on the remote computer.
Service Not Installed	The application service is not installed on the remote computer.

You can right-click various locations in the pane to display a context menu. The options in the menu vary depending on the pane element that you clicked, as follows:

• When you right-click a column header, the menu displays a list of the columns that are available to add or remove from the pane. For more information, refer to Working with Columns.

• When you right-click the pane's title bar or in a blank area of the pane when no rows are selected, the menu displays the following options:

• View: When you point to this option, a menu is displayed that you can use to change view settings for the pane and to print the contents of the pane.

• Fields: When you point to this option, a list of available column headers is displayed that you can use to add or remove columns from the pane.

• Group By: When you point to this option, a menu is displayed that you can use to change how the rows are grouped.

• Collapse All Groups: Collapses all groups. Available when groups are used and one or more groups are expanded.

• Expand All Groups: Expands all groups. Available when groups are used and one or more groups are collapsed.

• When you right-click a computer, the menu displays the following options:

• Add Computers: Opens the Add Computers dialog so that you can add a specific computer or search the network for new computers that have the Printer Maestro service installed.

• Print Server Properties: Opens the Windows Print Server Properties dialog, which you can use to configure the print server settings.

• Open Printers Folder: Opens the Windows Devices and Printers directory.

• Manage Computer: Starts Microsoft Management Console.

You can hide the pane by using one of the following methods:

• On the View menu, click the name of the pane.

• In the top right corner of the pane, click the icon.

To close the pane, click the icon in the top right corner of the pane.
