Embedded Picture

An embedded picture becomes a part of a document so that even if the original picture file is moved, deleted, or renamed, the picture remains the same. This is the easiest type of picture to work with.

You might not need to import a picture if what you want is a standard complex caution, warning, hazardous materials, packaging, textile care, electrical matters, or industrial workplace symbol. Most of these images are available in one of the special symbol fonts that are installed with BarTender.

For more information about how to place a symbol font character text object on the template or data entry form, refer to the "Text Object" section of Adding Objects to the Template and Adding Objects to the Form.

You can embed a picture by using one of the following methods.

  2. Click Insert from File to open the Select Picture dialog.

If the file type that you drag to the open document is not supported by BarTender, you might receive an error message. In this case, verify that the object is in a supported image format.

Saving an Embedded Picture

After you embed a picture into your document, you can re-save the picture to a file on your computer. When you do this, you can access the picture for use in other applications or create a backup of the image in case the document is lost or corrupted.

The new image file is a copy of the original embedded image, without any of the picture adjustments that you might make in BarTender. However, if you modify the image in an external editor or permanently apply your changes by using the Apply Image Processing Permanently option, then the modified image is saved.
