Text Property Page (Text Label Property Page) |
|
This property page is named either Text Label or Text, depending on whether you are configuring a data entry control, a text label for a data entry control, or a text object. |
Use the Text property page to define the dimensions, alignment, reading order, and content of normal, normal wrapped, and symbol font character text objects on the data entry form, including those text objects that are linked to a data entry control as the control's text label.
You can access the property page by using one of the following methods:
Double-click a normal, normal wrapped, or symbol font character text object to open the Text Properties dialog, and then click Text to open the Text property page and configure the options for the text object.
Double-click the text label for a data entry control to open the Text Properties dialog, and then click Text to open the Text property page and edit the options for the control's text label.
Double-click a data entry control to open the Control Properties dialog, and then click Text Label to open the Text Label property page and edit the options for the control's text label.
The following options are available:
Show Text Label: Specifies whether a control's label is visible on the data entry form. This property must be selected to customize the label for a data entry control. Available on the Text Label property page only.
Properties
Text: Specifies the content of the text object. Enter the text that you want into this field.
Linked Control: Specifies the data entry control that is linked to the text object. A linked data entry control and text object are automatically grouped on the data entry form, and you can edit the text object by using either the control's Text Label property page or the text object's Text property page. This option is read-only on the control's Text Label property page. You can unlink a text object or specify that it link to a different control by using the text object's Text property page.
Placement: Specifies the position of the text object relative to the linked control. Available when the text object is linked to a data entry control.
Wrap to fit width: Specifies that the text wraps to fit a width that you specify.
Width: Specifies the width of the text object. Available when you have selected Wrap to fit width.
Alignment: Defines the text alignment of the text object. Select Auto to use the alignment that is specified by the Reading Order setting. Available when you have selected Wrap to fit width.
Reading Order: Specifies the reading order for the text object. When the text object is linked to a data entry control, the reading order also specifies the position of the text box (left or right) relative to the control. To use the reading order that is configured on the Form property page, select Auto. If you select a reading order that is not supported by the selected typeface, BarTender treats the text as directionally mixed.

When text wraps from one line to the next, this is known as a "line break." In Western languages, line breaks occur at a space character or after a punctuation mark. However, languages such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean have different line breaking rules. For paragraph text to use the correct line breaking rules, you must select the correct Script on the Advanced tab of the Font property page. |
