Assigning Permissions for a User or Group

To assign individuals and groups security rights for BarTender, you must first create them as Windows users, either locally or on the domain. Then, you can assign permissions by using the following procedure.

  1. In the left navigation pane of Administration Console, click Security.

  2. Under Security, click User Permissions to open the User Permissions page.

  3. Below the Users and Groups pane, click Add to open the Add User or Group dialog.

  4. In the Add User or Group dialog, select the users and groups that you want to add. You can filter the users and groups in the list by selecting a location or by entering search criteria, such as a user or group name.

    To select multiple entities, hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard, and then click the users or groups that you want.

  5. Click OK to close the Add User or Group dialog.

  6. In the Users and Groups pane, select the newly added user or group, and then click to select the Allow or Deny check boxes in the Permissions list for each action to specify the permissions that you want to allow or deny.

  7. Click Apply to apply the settings. Alternatively, click OK to apply the settings and close Administration Console.

You can use the Set as template for new users feature to specify that every new user or group that you add is automatically assigned the same permissions as a particular existing user or group. This feature can save time when you need to add multiple users or groups that are to have the same permissions.

  1. In the left navigation pane of Administration Console, click Security.

  2. Under Security, click User Permissions to open the User Permissions page.

  3. In the Users and Groups pane, right-click the user or group whose permissions settings you want to use for the subsequent users or groups that you add, and then click Set as template for new users.
