Redundancy Page |
License server redundancy provides an automatic failover solution to keep your print production environment running seamlessly in the event that one license server fails.
In Administration Console, you can configure redundancy by setting up license servers in a backup relationship that uses two servers or in a triad relationship that uses three. Then, if the main or primary server cannot be reached by a BarTender client for any reason, the client automatically connects instead to the other servers in the relationship.
Use the Redundancy page to specify the server redundancy relationship that you want (backup or triad) and to configure its properties.
|
Before you can configure a backup or triad relationship, you must configure a rule in the This License Server section of the Administration Console Licensing page for each server so that each server has access to the other servers in the relationship. |
The following option is available:
Setup Server Redundancy: Starts the Redundancy Setup wizard, which you can use to specify what kind of server redundancy relationship you want to configure, specify the servers that you want to use, and configure the relationship among the servers.
After you configure the relationships that you want, the options that appear on the Redundancy page vary depending on the relationship types, as follows:
When you set up one or more backup relationships, a table is displayed that lists information about each main and backup server, including name, IP address, online status, and connection and synchronization status.
When you set up one or more triad relationships, a graphic image is displayed for each relationship that provides information about each server and its status and role, including an indication of which server is the active server.
When you set up both backup and triad relationships, the server information for the relationships of each type is displayed on separate tabs (Backup Server and Triad).
Server information also appears on the other pages in the Licensing section of Administration Console. A triad relationship is treated like a single license server, and it appears on these pages when one of its three servers is active.
