Creating a Root Folder

You can create a root folder from any directory folder on your web server or from any Librarian folder. After you define the folder as a root folder, it appears in the Print Portal folder navigator, and all BarTender documents within that folder are available in the document browser. If the root folder contains any sub-folders, those sub-folders and the BarTender documents that are in the sub-folders are also available.

ClosedTo create a root folder

  1. In Print Portal, open the Administrative Setup page.

  2. In the left navigation pane, click Root Folders to open the Root Folders property page.

  3. Click to create a new root folder "Documents" placeholder in the root folders pane.

  4. Select the new placeholder in the root folders pane, and then click Browse to open the Browse dialog.

  5. Browse to and then click the folder that you want to specify as a root folder.

  6. Click OK to select the folder and close the dialog.

  7. If you want Print Portal to display a different name for the folder in the folder navigator, enter that name in the Name field.

  8. Optionally, enter filter criteria in the File Filter field to filter the contents of the folder so that only those documents that meet the criteria are displayed.

  9. Optionally, click to select the Visible to selected users and groups option, and then add the specific users and/or groups that require access to the folder. This operation restricts folder visibility to only those users or groups that you add.

To limit folder visibility to certain users or groups, you must also enable authentication for Print Portal. For more information, refer to Enabling Print Portal Authentication.

  10. Click OK to save your changes and close Administrative Setup.
