Capturing an Image at Print Time

After you run a print job, BarTender displays the data entry form, which contains the image capture control.

You can capture an image by using one of the following devices.

ClosedVideo Device

When a video device is connected to your computer, such as a video camera or webcam, the image capture control on the data entry form provides a live preview, so that you can modify a captured image before you print your items. With its automatic face detection and centering functionality, BarTender makes it easy to produce identification cards for a variety of purposes.

  1. On the data entry form, align the image the way that you want it, and then click Capture. (If the image is unacceptable, click Redo Capture. The live preview screen reappears, and you can recapture the image.)

  2. Click Adjust to open the Adjust Image dialog.

  3. Use the available options to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of the image as needed.

  4. To crop the image, select the portion of the image that you want to remain in the printed image.

  5. To use advanced formatting, click Edit Image to open the image in your computer's default image editing program.

  6. Click OK to close the Adjust Image dialog. BarTender automatically updates the image on the data entry form with any modifications that you made.

  7. Click Print or press Enter to run the print job.

ClosedScanner

When a scanner is connected to your computer, you can use the image capture control on the data entry form to scan an image. You can then make modifications to the image by using the Adjust Image dialog before you print your items.

  1. On the date entry form, click Capture to begin the scan.

  2. In the New Scan dialog, enter the specifications that you want.

  3. Click Scan. (If the scanned image is unacceptable, readjust the materials, and then click Capture to re-perform the scan.)

  4. Click Adjust to open the Adjust Image dialog.

  5. Use the available options to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of the image as needed.

  6. To crop the image, select the portion of the image that you want to remain in the printed image.

  7. To use advanced formatting, click Edit Image to open the image in your computer's default image editing program.

  8. Click OK to close the Adjust Image dialog. BarTender automatically updates the image on the data entry form with any modifications that you made.

  9. Click Print or press Enter to run the print job.

ClosedDigital Camera

When a digital camera is connected to your computer, you can use the image capture control on the data entry form to select an image from the pictures that are contained in the camera's memory. After you select an image from the device, you can make modifications to it by using the Adjust Image dialog before you print your items.

  1. On the data entry form, click Capture to browse the images on your camera.

  2. Use the Get Pictures dialog to select the image that you want.

  3. Click Get Pictures to view the image on the data entry form.

  4. Click Adjust to open the Adjust Image dialog.

  5. Use the available options to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of the image as needed.

  6. To crop the image, select the portion of the image that you want to remain in the printed image.

  7. To use advanced formatting, click Edit Image to open the image in your computer's default image editing program.

  8. Click OK to close the Adjust Image dialog. BarTender automatically updates the image on the data entry form with any modifications that you made.

  9. Click Print or press Enter to run the print job.
