Message Setup Dialog |
To access the Message Setup dialog, click Application Message Setup on the Administer menu.
The Message Setup dialog includes the following options:
Reset to Defaults: Overwrites any changes and resets the messages to their default settings.
Log Setup:
Alert Setup: Opens the Alert Setup dialog, which you can use to define the distribution and structure of email notifications.

Click Reset to Defaults to restore the settings to their defaults. The change appears immediately but does not take effect until you click OK. If you click Cancel after you click Reset to Defaults, the default settings are not restored. |
Message Grid
ID: Displays the message's unique identification number.
Severity: Identifies the message's severity level (information, warning, or error).
Category: Identifies the message's category, such as Licensing, Printer, or Database.
Default Response to Message:
Message Target(s): Identifies the places where the message appears.
Message Contents
The Message Contents section displays the content of the message that is currently selected in the message grid.
Message Target(s)
The Message Target(s) section specifies where the message appears when it is generated. The following options are available:
Dialog (Interactive Use Only): Displays the message on screen, which requires user interaction.
Windows Event Log: Logs the message to the operating system's event log.
Database Log: Logs the message to the BarTender System Database. Available only when database logging is selected in the Log Setup dialog.
Text File Log: Logs the message to a text log file. Available only when text file logging is selected in the Log Setup dialog.
Automation Exception (Automation Only): Specifies that when BarTender is run from another program by using ActiveX Automation, the message is passed to the other program, which is responsible for handling it. When BarTender is not being run by using ActiveX Automation, this option has no effect. For more information about ActiveX Automation, refer to
Default Response to Message
Some messages require a response, such as clicking OK or Cancel.
